Answer: Hockey is the unofficial national sport of India.

In Olympics, India has won eight gold medals in hockey and has produced the best players like Dhyan Chand, Balbir Singh Sr, and Dhanraj Pillai. But, it is not the national sport of India. Apart from Hockey, the other famous sports in India are Cricket and Kabbadi. The other national symbols of the country are the national bird is the peacock, the national animal is the tiger and the national flower is the lotus.

There is no national game in India. It was known when a school teacher from Dhule district, Maharashtra filed a Right to Information (RTI) to know when hockey was declared India’s national game.
