National fellowship for scheduled case students
- It is a Central Sector Scheme.
- It was introduced in the financial year 2005-06.
- Its aim is to provide opportunities to Scheduled Castes students for pursuing higher education leading to M.Phil/Ph.D degrees in Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences and Engineering & Technology streams.
- UGC is the implementing agency.
- The fellowship for SC students will be given through UGC NET and CSIR NET Exam only.
- New changes are effective from 1 April 2020.
Scope of the scheme
- Through this scheme, 2000 Fellowships (1500 Junior Research Fellows for Humanities/ Social Sciences and 500 Junior Research Fellows for Science stream) per year are given to Scheduled Caste students.
- For securing this fellowship they must undertake admission in PhD Degrees.
- Students will be selected from UGC NET and CSIR NET Exam.
