National Defence Academy (NDA) is the joint service academy of the Indian Armed Forces where cadets of the Indian Air Force, Indian Army and Indian Navy are trained together before going to their respective academies. NDA Pune is one of its kind institute located in Khadakwasla, Maharashtra.

National Defence Academy is the first Tri-Service academy in the world. The NDA Exam is conducted by the UPSC twice a year in the months of September and April. Male and Female candidates of Age 16.5 - 19.5 years of age are eligible to apply for the examination. All the cadets joining the NDA Academy Pune after their 10+2 Examination are trained in the Academy for three years culminating in graduation with a BA (or) BSc or BCs (Computer Science) degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University & the University of Delhi.

NDA Pune gives you the opportunity to serve in the defence forces at a very early age. Aspirants who are zeal to join the Indian armed forces can apply for the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force through the NDA exam. Both male and female candidates aged 16.5 to 19.5 years and appearing or completing class 12th from recognized boards can apply for this exam. In the following table, we are sharing the eligibility criteria for the NDA Pune.

Selection Process for NDA Pune

The NDA Selection Process is divided into multiple stages. We will discuss these stages in this article. The first stage of NDA Pune is the written examination consisting of two papers Math and GAT. The following table contains all the information related to written papers for the exam.

Those candidates who qualify for the written NDA Pune examination will be called for the SSB interview. SSB interview is a 5 day process, conducted in two phases. SSB interview is conducted to check aspirants possessing 15-character traits called “Officer Like Qualities” following are the procedures to check these traits in any aspirant.

• Mansa (which means thoughts; Psychological tests are conducted for this)
• Vacha (which means speech; Interview conducted for this)
• Karma (which means deeds or actions; Group testing is done for this)

After the result is announced, the shortlisted Aspirants are retained for further medical examinations. The UPSC announces the final result or merit list on its official website after completing the entire process.
