National Affairs: Tricks to Remember List of Fundamental Duties

By Gaurav Gupta|Updated : July 22nd, 2021

Article 51A of Part IVA of Indian Constitution deals with Fundamental Duties. Originally, the Constitution of India did not contain these duties. Fundamental duties were added on the recommendation of Sawarn Singh Committee in 1976 by 42nd Constitutional Amendment Act. Initially there were only 10 duties, 11th duty was inserted through 86th Constitutional Amendment Act. Citizens are morally obligated by the Constitution to perform these duties. However, like the Directive Principles, these are non-justifiable, without any legal sanction in case of their violation or non-compliance.
