Key Differences Between CAT and MICAT

The following is a list of the differences between the CAT and the MICAT examination:

MICAT Vs CAT: Difficulty Level

CAT is more challenging than MICAT, as previously stated. This means that if you’re studying for the CAT, scoring well in MICAT would not be that tough; yet, if MICAT is your primary emphasis, this isn’t the case. MICAT evaluates your ability to solve problems quickly and accurately rather than your problem-solving technique (which is seen in CAT). As a result, just because you did well in MICAT doesn’t mean you’ll do well in the CAT.

MICAT Vs CAT: Types of Questions

The syllabus for MICAT and CAT are very similar. The MICAT exam consists of both MCQs and Descriptive types of questions. CAT, on the other hand, includes both MCQs and non-MCQs. TITA-style questions are non-MCQs in which candidates must Type In The Answer (TITA). In CAT majority of the questions are MCQ-based. Go through the Preparation Tips for CAT 2022

MICAT Vs CAT: Marking Scheme

Each correct response in the MICAT exam will be given one mark, whereas each correct answer in a CAT question is for 3 marks. In CAT, 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect response, however, in MICAT, there is a negative grading of -0.25 for any question answered incorrectly (only for VA, QA, GA, and DCT sections).

MICAT Vs CAT: Strategy to Attempt Questions

The MICAT and the CAT are two entirely different tests. You’ll need to adopt a different strategy, mindset, and prepare for each exam. The most effective way to prepare for both exams is to practice mock tests. You can practice CAT mock test to level up your exam preparation.
