Overall, the difficulty level of MICAT-1 2022 (on December 4th, 2021) was Moderate to Difficult. The questions on the Verbal Logic in Divergent-Convergent Thinking were relatively easy when compared to other sections but all the sections had a difficulty level of Moderate to Difficult.

• There is NO NEGATIVE marking for questions from PT and DT sections.
• There is a negative marking of 0.25 for every incorrect response from VA, QA, GA and DCT sections
• For every correct response, +1 will be rewarded   

MICAT 1 Exam Analysis 2021: Difficulty Level (December 4, 2021)

MICAT-1 exam had a difficulty level of Moderate to Difficult. One thing to note in this paper was that the student would have spent a lot of time understanding the pattern of questions. In most of the questions, up to  8 options were provided which made the questions difficult to solve.

The section-by-section evaluation of the MICAT-1 on December 4, 2021, is provided below.

MICAT 1 Exam Review Verbal Ability

This section had a difficulty level of Moderate-Difficult. Questions on Grammar and Vocab were of Moderate to difficult level. It seemed like the MICAT exam was inclined towards Literature as the passages were on Greek heroes, literature phrases, Crypto-currency, etc. A detailed topic-wise break-up of questions is mentioned in the table below:

MICAT-1 Exam Review Quantitative Ability 

This section was Moderate-Difficult in terms of difficulty level.  This section had 20 questions. In DI the set was easy to solve but the candidate might have found it difficult to read as the Bar and Table both were given and the candidate had to take the information from both of them thus making it a bit time-consuming. MICAT-1 Exam Review Divergent-Convergent Thinking

This section was Moderate-Difficult in terms of difficulty level. The total number of questions was 20. Questions like Possible Average rainfall in the month of Nov etc were asked. The topic-wise break-up is given below:

MICAT-1 Exam Review Psychometric Testing

This section was Moderate to Difficult in terms of difficulty level. The focus was on the creativity and innovation skills of the candidate. 30 minutes were given to attempt 150 questions, so the candidate's speed had to be brisk. Most of the questions were rephrased and asked again to check the candidate's consistency in thoughts and answers.

MICAT-1 Exam Review Descriptive Test

This section was above moderate in terms of difficulty level. There were a total of 4 questions. In this section, a question was given on Homogenous cohorts. This question would have been difficult if the student is not aware of Homogenous cohorts. Creativity for picture-based questions was required. Some of the questions asked are discussed below: 

• The first three questions were related to a statement given:​
  3 points FOR​
  3 points AGAINST​
  3 points on Young Manager Decision-making​
  ​
• The fourth question had ‘4 Pictures’ Question (Fire Extinguisher, A man building a wall,  QR code, Horse)​

MICAT-1 Exam Review General Awareness

This section was Difficult in terms of difficulty level. There were a total of 20 questions. The topic-wise break-up is given below:

• Static GK- 10 Qs
• Current GK- 10 Qs

The questions were more like the RCs as they had questions like Match the Following and questions on statements asking if the statements given about the question are true or not. Few questions asked were: ​

• Match the Following - Journalist v/s Corresponding Channel, International Associations vs Countries
• ​True & False - Statements were given on ZEE merger and acquisition, AIR India Statements, Mount Everest, Purpose of Cannes Film Festival ​
  Brand  Associated with Tiger Woods, Taglines, Icons & Facts, History Questions regarding World War I​

Expected MICAT-1 Cut Off 2021

The cut-off will vary. It is dependent upon the essay/subjective part. Someone can get a call at 32-33 and someone else with 40 might not if the subjective part isn't liked.
