NEET 2021 Latest Updates

NEET 2021- NTA announced the NEET Exam 2021 date! NEET 2021 exam will be conducted in 11 languages, including Hindi and English, through pen and paper mode on August 1. As per the news sources, the NEET 2021 exam will be held twice as the Health Ministry gives a green signal to the decision. This means, the NEET exam will be held twice and the best score out of both the attempts will be considered to prepare the rank list for participating candidates.

National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 is an All India Level Examination conducted annually by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to the courses of MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS in the medical and paramedical education sector. 

NEET is conducted for admission to the undergraduate medical courses in all medical institutions including those governed under any other law. Thus, the admission to MBBS course in AIIMS, New Delhi, JIPMER and all AIIMS like Institutions will also be made through NEET. Candidates who wish to take admission to the first year of MBBS, BDS or AYUSH courses will have to register for the NEET 2021 for which the application form is expected to be released in the first week of December 2020. In this article, we will cover the admission process for NTA NEET 2021 along with a few preparation tips.

NEET 2021 Notification

NEET 2021 Notification will be released in the first week of December 2020. The Exam was scheduled to be held in online mode on 3rd May 2020 but got postponed to 13th September 2020 due to COVID 19 Pandemic with 85-90 percent of 15.97 lakh candidates. However, if the situation is good in 2021 then NEET 2021 will be held as per the schedule to be released officially by NTA. NEET is conducted in 11 languages across India.

NEET Eligibility Criteria 2021

Admission to medical and dental colleges for UG courses will be subject to fulfilling NEET 2021 Eligibility Criteria. Read the following criteria for NEET eligibility here. 

1. Nationality

Indian, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), Foreign Nationals and Non-resident Indians (NRIs) candidates will be considered as eligible and can fill up the NEET 2021 application form.

2. NEET Age Limit

It is recommended to check the age limit along with other factors of eligibility before doing the online registration. Candidates who have filled the NEET 2021 Application Form in spite of being ineligible, shall not be considered for selection even if they score qualifying marks. 

Go through the minimum and maximum NEET age limit for general and reserved categories below. 

  • The minimum age limit (General Category) to apply for NEET 2021 exam should be 17 Years.
  • However, the maximum NEET age limit for general category is 25 Years.
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PH should have their birthdate between 07.05.1988 and 01.01.2002.

3. NEET UG Age Relaxation

4. NEET UG Educational Qualification

Meeting the prescribed NEET educational qualification percentage in Class 12 from the recognized institution is a must. Below you can find the detailed information about educational criteria of NEET-UG 2021 exam

  • To apply for the NEET exam 2021, you must have passed Higher Secondary Examination (12th board examination) with Chemistry, Physics, and Biology/ Biotechnology with a minimum of 50% marks in each subject.
  • Candidates from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) or any State Open School are also eligible to apply.

Note: Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam can also apply for NEET 2021 exam.

Documents Required for NTA NEET 2021 Online Form

Candidate should have scanned images in JPG/ JPEG format only, for uploading as part of the submission of his/her NEET application form online:

 ➢ latest Passport size Photograph (size: 10 kb to 200 kb)

 ➢ Post Card size photograph (4”X6”) (Size: 50 kb - 300 kb)

 ➢ Signature (size: 4 kb to 30 kb) and 

➢ Left hand thumb impression (In case of any eventuality of left hand thumb being unavailable, right hand thumb impression may be used.) - file size: 10 kb to 50 kb)

NEET 2021 Application Fee

If you are applying for NEET 2021 make sure to pay the application fee before the last date otherwise your application will be rejected without prior information. The application fee for NEET 2021 has to be paid only through online mode.

Processing charges & Goods and Services Tax (GST) are to be paid by the candidate, as applicable for NEET 2021.

NEET Admit Card 2021

The candidates who have registered themselves successfully will be able to download NEET admit card. The admit card for NEET 2021 is often released three weeks before the exam date. You must check that the details printed on the NEET 2021 Hall Ticket are correct.

In case of queries or discrepancies related to admit card issues, you can contact the NTA NEET 2021 helpline numbers available on their website. Students can contact the officials of the concerned department during the working days in the time frame of 9.30 PM to 6.00 PM.

NEET Exam Pattern 2021

The National Testing Agency is the body that is responsible for preparing the NEET exam pattern

  • There are a total of 4 sections namely, || Physics | Chemistry | Botany | Zoology ||
  •  Each section is of 45 marks.
  • There are a total of 180 questions comprising a total of 720 marks.
  • The total duration of the NEET Exam is 3 Hours.
  • All the questions are multiple choice questions objective in nature.

NEET 2021 Answer Key

Once the NEET Exam is conducted successfully, NTA releases the answer key. The answer key is released for all set of questions. In this way the candidates can cross-check with their responses and ascertain the marks that they are likely to score. NEET OMR challenge process is also made available for the candidates.

NEET Cut Off

National Testing Agency (NTA)releases NEET 2021 Cut off soon after the declaration of result. Candidates must note that the cut-off is the minimum qualifying percentile and scores which must be obtained in order to pass or qualify NEET 2021. In order to secure admission into top medical colleges, you have to secure the required cut off marks set by the medical college.

NEET cut off 2019 was not very different from that of the previous years. The cutoff mark for NEET 2019 for general category was 134 out of 720. Candidates must note that this is the score of the last candidate admitted to MBBS in the open round.

NEET Result 2021

The exam conducting authority NTA will release the official result date of NEET 2021 once the answer key is released by the authorities. 

You can get here the direct link to check the NEET result once it is out. Make sure you have the roll number and date of birth to access the result.

NEET Counselling 2021

Directorate General Health Services, Government of India will conduct the counselling for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) Seats and states/other Counselling Authorities. Admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses within the respective categories shall be based solely on All India Rank as per merit list of NEET (UG) - 2021. NEET Counselling start date will be informed to the candidates by NTA. There will be three rounds of counselling take place in the time period of two months depending on the scores and institutes. This includes first round, second round, and mock-up rounds for the central universities, deemed universities, and ESIC.

NEET Admission 2021 In AFMC, Pune

Admission to AFMC, Pune shall be subject to the norms prescribed by the Directorate General of Armed Forces Medical Services, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Candidates who apply for NEET (UG) - 2021 and/or for seeking admission in AFMC also need to apply to AFMC on The short listed candidates will be required to appear for a second stage Screening Test conducted by AFMC. Candidates are advised to contact AFMC for further and exact details. The Counselling will be conducted by DGHS


  • General candidates can attempt NEET total 9 times, however, OBC, SC and ST candidates can attempt NEET 14 times.

  • NEET 2021 Application forms will be released in December 2021. But this year, NEET aspirants may expect a slight delay in release of application forms for NEET 2021 due to COVID 19 pandemic.

  • The age limit to apply for NEET exam is 17-25 years.

  • General category students are required to score 50 percentile minimum, however, candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC need to score 40 percentile.

  • NEET 2021 examination will be conducted in 11 languages. Candidates who opt for regional language will be provided a bilingua test booklet in the selected regional language as well as in English.

  • General candidates have to pay Rs.1500, General-EWS/ OBC-NCL have to pay Rs. 1400 and SC/ST/PH Candidates have to pay Rs. 800 as NEET 2021 application fee. If there is any change in the NEET exam fee, it will be intimated to you.

  • To apply for NEET, you need a valid Email address, Mobile number, Class 10th and 12th details, your photo-identity, scanned passport-sized photograph and signature and other documents.

  • No, you can’t use the calculator.

  • Yes, for every wrong answer 1 mark will get deducted.

  • NEET is a national level exam, thus Domicile certificates are not required.

  • For NEET counselling, you are required to carry the admit card, rank letter, your date of birth proof, class 10th and 12th certificate, mark sheet of class 12th, 8 passport size photographs, ID proof, provisional allotment letter and caste certificate.

  • There are 5 Years of age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates.

  • The NEET exam will take place for total of 03 hours. The exam will start at 10.00 AM and ends at 01.00 PM.
