Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan
Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan was introduced in May 2020 by our finance minister Ms Nirmala Sitharaman. Due to heavy losses faced by the government and the citizens of India due to Covid 19 pandemic, it was the need of the hour to take measures for the welfare of the citizens. There was an economic relief package announced by the government of a total of Rs. 20 lakh crores. Some important points to keep in mind are:

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana
This Scheme was launched in Ranchi for the welfare of the farmers. The scheme was launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and farmers welfare, Department of Agriculture, Government of India along with Life Insurance Corporation (LIC). It is a central sector scheme administered by the above-mentioned authorities. Under this scheme, LIC provides a fixed pension of Rs. 3000/- to all the farmers of age above 60 years every month. It was launched on 12 September 2019 to provide support to marginal and poor farmers.
Under this scheme, the members have to pay a monthly amount of Rs 55/- - Rs 200/- depending on the age. By 14th November 2029, a total of 18,29,469 farmers and registered under this scheme.
Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY)
This scheme was released by the Prime Minister to alter the taxation laws. It came into force on 16th December 2016, under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance. The Prime Minister in his speech in June 2020 announced that this scheme will be extended till November 2020. Around 80 Crore people will be provided free food grains across the country. The extension of this scheme required an amount of Rs. 90,000. The validity of the scheme was from 16th December 2016 to 31st March 2017 but was later decided that the scheme will be extended till June 2020. Some benefits of this scheme are:
- Insurance of Rs. 50 Lakh will be provided
- BPL Families to have free LPG cylinder
- Additional benefits to farmers
- Free pulses for the next three months
- Upliftment of low-grade workers
Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan (PM-SYM)
This scheme was launched on 15th February 2019 under the Ministry of Labour and Employment by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is the largest pension scheme in the world supervised by old age protection and social security of Unorganised Workers (UW). According to this, the workers such as street vendors, rickshaw pullers, agricultural workers, mid-day meal workers, construction workers etc will receive a pension of Rs 3000 every month after attaining the age of 60 years. The spouse of the pensioner will receive 50% of this pension after the death of the pensioner. To be eligible for this scheme, the citizen should be:
- An unorganized worker who falls in the age group of 18-40 years.
- The monthly income of the citizen should be Rs15000 or below
- Government of India should have issued an Aadhaar card along with a savings account or Jan Dhan Account with IFSC.
Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY)
This scheme was launched on 28th August 2014. It was a nationwide initiative to provide easy access to financial information and services like Remittance, Credit, Insurance, Pension, Banking Savings & Deposit Accounts to the underprivileged. Due to the Covid pandemic, Nirmala Sitharaman announced to provide Rs. 500 for the next three months to every woman who has a Jan Dhan account. The main agenda of this scheme was to provide banking services to about 7.5 crores citizens who have not been able to avail the services. By 31st January 2015, 12.54 crore accounts were opened. Some key benefits of this scheme are:
- Provide a debit card (RuPay) to each account holder in rural as well as urban areas.
- Citizens can open a bank account with zero balance as no minimum amount is required.
- Provides core banking as well as mobile banking facilities to all account holders
Swachh Bharat Mission
This scheme was introduced on 02 October 2019. The agenda of this mission was to ensure the cleanliness of the surroundings and its importance. This scheme helped in ensuring that the surroundings are clean and people do not litter on the roads and roadsides. Under this scheme, every person is subjected to basic facilities like toilets, drinking water supply, drainage systems, solid and liquid waste disposal systems, village cleanliness. The core objectives of this scheme are to have the following main components:
- Individual household toilets;
- Community toilets;
- Public toilets;
- Municipal Solid Waste Management;
- Information and Education Communication (IEC) and Public Awareness;
- Capacity Building
