About Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) PSU Recruitment Through GATE- Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) are government-owned corporations that offer employment based on the GATE score. The recruitment details on various posts are released separately for every PSU. The application process for Public Sector Undertakings recruitment through GATE starts mostly after releasing the GATE admit card. The GATE results will be announced on the official website, and the candidates will be selected based on the GATE scores. Few PSUs may also conduct entrance tests, group discussions, and interviews to determine the candidates.

Benefits of Getting a PSU Job Through GATE

Public Sector Undertakings are government-owned enterprises in India or public sector enterprises. There will be a massive competition among candidates applying for a job at a PSU as they will be eligible to avail the various benefits offered by a PSU job if they get selected for through GATE such as: -

  • Job Security: Employees in PSU jobs offer unparalleled job security when compared to private-sector employment. Employee firings and layoffs are rare in PSUs, whereas it is common in the private sector.
  • Medical Insurance Benefits: Employees in PSU jobs are entitled to proper medical reimbursements and benefits for themselves and their dependent families.
  • Retirement Life Benefits: Employees in PSU jobs get to relish decent post-retirement settlements like a pension fund, gratuity, and salary arrears, making their retirement life pressure-free.

Categories of PSUs in India

PSUs in India are categorised into three types based on investment policies and other characteristics. The classification of PSUs is:

Navratnas:
Navratna PSUs are publicly listed under India’s Securities and Exchange Board and internationally and nationally. The turnover of Navratnas PSUs ranges from approximately between 2,000 crores to 2,000,00 crore INR. Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Power Grid Corporation of India, are few examples of Navratnas PSUs.

Maharatnas:
Maharatna PSUs are listed under Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and have a medium turnover compared to Navratna and Maharatna PSUs. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Steel Authority of India Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited are few examples of Maharatna PSUs.

Miniratnas:
Miniratna PSUs have less turnover when compared to Navratna PSUs and Maharatna PSUs. They are further classified into Miniratna Category-I PSUs and Miniratna Category-II PSUs. Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Cochin Shipyard (CSL), Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) are few examples of Miniratna PSUs.

1. Airports Authority of India (AAI)

Eligibility Criteria:

The applicant must have graduated with a bachelor's degree from a recognised or deemed university. 

Percentage Criteria: 

  •       General – 60%
  •       Other Backward Classes (OBC) – 60%
  •       Scheduled Castes (S.C.) – 60%
  •       Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) – 60%
  •       Persons With Disability (PWD) – 60%

Age Limit: The applicant's maximum age must be 27 years as of January 31, 2021 

2. Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL)

Eligibility Criteria: The applicant must have graduated with a bachelor's degree from a recognised or deemed university. 

Percentage Criteria: 

  •       General – 65%
  •       Other Backward Classes (OBC) – 65%
  •       Scheduled Castes (S.C.) – 55%
  •       Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) – 55%
  •       Persons With Disability (PWD) – 55%

Age Limit: The applicant's maximum age must be 25 years as of January 31, 2021.

3. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL)

Eligibility Criteria: The applicant must have graduated with a bachelor's degree from a recognised or deemed university.

Percentage Criteria: 

  •       General – 60%
  •       Other Backward Classes (OBC) – 60%
  •       Scheduled Castes (S.C.) – 50%
  •       Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) – 50%
  •       Persons With Disability (PWD) – 50%

Age Limit: The applicant's maximum age must be 25 years as of January 31, 2021. 

4. National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)

Eligibility Criteria: The applicant must have graduated with a bachelor's degree from a recognised or deemed university. 

Percentage Criteria: 

  •       General – 65%
  •       Other Backward Classes (OBC) – 65%
  •       Scheduled Castes (S.C.) – 55%
  •       Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) – 55%
  •       Persons With Disability (PWD) – 55%

Age Limit: The applicant's maximum age must be 27 years as of January 31, 2021.

5. NLC India Limited (NLC)

Eligibility Criteria: The applicant must have graduated with a bachelor's degree from a recognised or deemed university.

Percentage Criteria: 

  •       General – 60%
  •       Other Backward Classes (OBC) – 60%
  •       Scheduled Castes (S.C.) – 50%
  •       Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) – 50%
  •       Persons With Disability (PWD) – 50%

Age Limit: The applicant's maximum age must be 25 years as of January 31, 2021.

6. Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL)

Eligibility Criteria: The applicant must have graduated with a bachelor's degree from a recognised or deemed university.

Percentage Criteria: 

  •       General – 60%
  •       Other Backward Classes (OBC) – 60%
  •       Scheduled Castes (S.C.) – 60%
  •       Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) – 60%
  •       Persons With Disability (PWD) – 60%

Age Limit: The applicant's maximum age must be 25 years as of January 31, 2021.

7. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC)

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants in the final year of BTech or BE can appear for the GATE exam. However, applicants who have passed professional exams for Electrical Engineering, Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers (AMIE), cannot apply for the ONGC recruitment through GATE.

Percentage Criteria: 

  •   General – 60%
  •   Other Backward Classes (OBC) – 60%
  •   Scheduled Castes (S.C.) – 60%
  •   Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) – 60%
  •   Persons With Disability (PWD) – 60%

Age Limit: The applicant's maximum age must be 30 years as of January 31, 2021 

8. Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL)

Eligibility Criteria: The applicant must have graduated with a bachelor's degree from a recognised or deemed university in:

  •       General – 65%
  •       Other Backward Classes (OBC) – 65%
  •       Scheduled Castes (S.C.) – 65%
  •       Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) – 65%
  •       Persons With Disability (PWD) – 65%

Age Limit: The applicant's maximum age must be 30 years as of January 31, 2021.

Application Process for PSU Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) Recruitment

The students applying for the ECE PSU recruitment will have to follow the mentioned steps to fill the application form:

  • Step 1: The applicant has to visit the official websites of the respective PSU.
  • Step 2: When the applicant has reached the official website, the applicant has to locate the page related to job openings and click on the link to apply for a job.
  • Step 3: The applicant must enter all the mandatory information in the recruitment form, including educational, personal, and other details. The applicant must make sure that all the details as per the GATE exam have to be entered.
  • Step 4: The applicant should upload all the required documents in the formats mentioned by the respective PSUs.
  • Step 5: If required, the applicant must pay an application fee online or offline mode.
  • Step 6: After completing the application, the applicant can download the form and receipt for future references.
