Even numbers are defined as whole numbers that are multiples of 2 or end with 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8. The concept of even numbers is taught in primary school for children to differentiate between even and odd numbers. Odd numbers, on the other hand, are whole numbers that are not divisible by 2 or end with 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9.

The list of even numbers is never-ending because the counting goes on up to infinity. To understand the even numbers, let us take examples from the even numbers list from 1 to 100 below, In this article, we will also study even prime numbers and difference between even and odd numbers.

Examples of Even Numbers

As mentioned above, the list of even numbers contains the whole numbers that are divisible by 2. Below are the examples of even numbers between 1 and 100.

Difference between Even and Odd Numbers

Go through the essential differences between even and odd numbers below.

Even Numbers

Odd Numbers

1

Even numbers are multiples of 2.

1

Odd numbers are not divisible by 2.

2

These numbers end with 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8.

2

These numbers end with 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9.

3

When we divide an even number by 2, the remainder is always zero.

3

When we divide an odd number by 2, the remainder is always 1.

4

Examples of even numbers are 2, 10, 14, 16, etc.

4

Examples of odd numbers are 3, 5, 9, 13, 17, etc.

Even Prime Numbers

A positive integer that has only two positive factors 1 and the number itself is called a prime number. For example, 2 is the smallest prime number as it has two factors, which are 1 and 2. Now, we will discuss what are even prime numbers.

  • 12, 14, 16, …
  • 34, 36, 38, ….
  • 58, 60, 62, ….
  • 86, 88, 90, 92, …

Even Natural Numbers

Except zero, all even numbers are categorised under even natural numbers. Recall, natural numbers begin from 1 and goes on up to infinity. Look at the difference between natural and whole numbers to get a clear picture in your mind.
