1. Word: Abdicate (त्यागना)
- Pronunciation: ab-di-keyt/ ऐब्डकेट
- Part of Speech: Verb
- Meaning:
a. (of a monarch) renounce one's throne.
b. fail to fulfil or undertake (a responsibility or duty). - Synonyms: abandon, resign, renounce
- Antonyms: claim, assume
- Usage in a sentence: The king was forced to abdicate the throne.
2. Word: Scrutinise (बारीकी से देखना)
- Pronunciation: skroot-n-ahyz/ स्क्रूटनाइज़
- Part of Speech: Verb
- Meaning: examine or inspect closely and thoroughly.
- Synonyms: examine, investigate, inspect
- Antonyms: ignore, neglect, reject, overlook
- Usage in a sentence: When you have completed the whole exercise, scrutinise it and pay particular attention to your adjectives.
3. Word: Watchdog (रक्षक)
- Pronunciation: watch-dog/ वाच-डॉग
- Part of Speech: Noun, Verb
- Meaning:
a. a person or group that monitors the practices of companies (noun)
b. monitor (a person/ activity/ situation) (verb) - Synonyms: custodian, guardian, protector
- Usage in Sentence: The Institute acts as an independent watchdog to look after the policies of the company.
4. Word: Allegation (अभिकथन)
- Pronunciation: al-i-gey-shuhn/ ऐलगेशन
- Part of speech: Noun
- Meaning: a claim or assertion that someone has done something illegal or wrong, typically one made without proof
- Synonyms: accusation, charge, contention, deposition
- Antonyms: exculpation, denial
- Usage in a sentence: The professor made an allegation of cheating against his student.
5. Word: Enormous (विशाल/दीर्घाकार)
- Pronunciation: ih-nawr-muhs /ईनॉर्मस
- Part of Speech: Adjective
- Meaning:
a. greatly exceeding the common size, extent, etc.; huge; immense
b. outrageous or atrocious - Synonyms: huge, immense, gigantic, colossal
- Antonyms: diminutive, minute, insignificant
- Usage in a sentence: She showed enormous courage when she rescued him from the fire.
6. Word: Grievance (शिकायत)
- Pronunciation: gree-vuhns
- Part of Speech: Noun
- Meaning: a wrong considered as grounds for complaint, or something believed to cause distress.
- Synonyms: complaint, objection, grudge
- Antonyms: compliment, praise, peace
- Usage in a sentence: Despite the meeting, the main grievance remained unaddressed.
7. Word: Arbitrary (इच्छाधीन)
- Pronunciation: ahr-bi-trer-ee?आर्बिट्रेरी
- Part of Speech: Adjective
- Meaning: based on random choice or personal whim, rather than any reason or system.
- Synonyms: irrational, inconsistent, freakish
- Antonyms: reasonable, circumspect, objective
- Use in a Sentence: Her supposition was arbitrary, based on no valid proof.
8. Word: Unilateral (एकतरफ़ा)
- Pronunciation: yoo-nuh-lat-er-uhl/ यूनिलैटरल
- Part of Speech: Adjective
- Meaning:
a. relating to, occurring on, or involving one side only:
b. undertaken or done by or on behalf of one side, party, or faction only; not mutual:
c. having only one side or surface; without a reverse side or inside, as a Möbius strip. - Synonyms: lopsided, partial, skewed
- Antonyms: bilateral, mutual, united
- Usage in a sentence: The decision needs to be unilateral within the company.
9. Word: Submerge (जलमग्न)
- Pronunciation: सब्मर्ज/suhb-murj
- Part of Speech: Verb
- Meaning - to sink out of sight
- Synonyms - sunken, drowned
- Antonyms - afloat, surfaced
- Usage in a sentence-To test how long he could go without breathing, the little boy decided to submerge his head into a bucket full of water.
10. Word: Sustainable (कायम रहने वाला)
- Pronunciation: suh-stey-nuh-buh l/सस्टैनबल
- Part of Speech:
- Meaning:
a. able to be maintained at a certain rate or level.
b. able to be upheld or defended. - Synonyms: endurable, tenable
- Antonyms: unstable, unbearable
- Use in a Sentence: Sustainable development implies a long-term perspective.
