CLAT Eligibility is announced by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) for integrated LLB and LLM programs on the official website for both UG & PG admissions. CLAT UG Eligibility 2022

The CLAT Eligibility Criteria for UG (undergraduate) course is divided into two parts as follows.

  • Candidates must have secured 45% marks in aggregate or its equivalent in their 10+2 or an equivalent examination.
  • Candidates belonging to the reserved categories must have secured 40% aggregate or its equivalent.

CLAT PG Eligibility 2022

The CLAT Eligibility for the PG Law Programme includes details about educational qualifications, marks obtained in graduation, and more. 

  • The candidates must complete an LLB Programmes with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (45% for Reserve Category).

Age Limit for CLAT

s per the CLAT Eligibility 2022, there is no upper age limit for taking admission in the Undergraduate (UG) program of the Common Law Admission Test. Similarly, for the postgraduate programs, the officials have not set any upper age limit for CLAT 2022. Candidates of any age can study law in India as per the rules and regulations of the Supreme Court of India. As a result, the Bar Council of India lifted the Age Limit for CLAT from UG and PG exams.

CLAT Eligibility for Final Year Students

The final year candidates are also eligible to take up this exam. Note the below points to get general CLAT Eligibility Criteria for final year candidates. 

  • The candidates are required to show proof of passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, or they will forfeit their right to be considered for admission.
  • Candidates who do not submit the mark sheet and certificates of their passing with the required marks will not be considered.

CLAT Exam Criteria for International Students

The candidates who are applying through NRI, NRI Sponsored, Foreign National Category, should contact their university authority for CLAT Exam Eligibility, regarding required documents, and other questions related to the NRI Quota.

  • The candidates applying for the NRI category must appear for CLAT 2022 for those NLUs that require this exam as an admission requirement to the respective category. 
  • The CLAT authority will be responsible for shortlisting the candidates as the official updates of CLAT Eligibility.

Documents Required for NRI Candidates

  • Copy of Valid Indian Passport of the Student

CLAT Eligibility for the Sponsors for NRI Students

The person who is interested to sponsor the candidates for CLAT Admission must have the first-degree relation with the students and shall be residing abroad as an NRI.

  • If the candidates have no parents or near relatives or are taken as a ward by some other nearest relative, such students also may be considered for admission as per the official CLAT Eligibility Criteria.

Documents Required for Sponsored NRI Candidates 

Below are the important documents required for the sponsored NRI Candidates

  • Copy of the Valid Indian Passport of the Sponsor.
  • Copy of Visas obtained in the last 12 months by the Sponsor.
  • Certificate from the local embassy stating that the Sponsor is an NRI/OCI or PIO Card.
  • An affidavit by the sponsor indicating the interest shown in the education affairs of the student and willingness to fund the education of the student over the next 5 years.

CLAT Eligibility 2022: Tie-Breaker Score

If two or more candidates get the same score then NLUs will use the below process to break the tie.

Tie-breaker Round for UG Score

In the event of a tie in the CLAT UG Exam, the following procedure and order will be used to break the tie:

  • Higher scores in legal aptitude subject 
  • Older age candidate
  • Computerized lotteries

Tie-breaker Round for PG Score

In case of a tie in PG CLAT 2022, the following procedure and sequence will be used to break the tie:

  • Older age candidate
  • Computerized lotteries

  • Candidates who will fail to meet CLAT Eligibility 2022, will be although they have cleared the entrance exam. You must be well versed with all the details of CLAT Exam Criteria as prescribed by the NLU Consortium.

  • As per the official updates, CLAT Eligibility 2022 is different for UG and PG courses. Candidates applying for CLAT UG course must have qualified Higher Secondary School from a recognized board, whereas for the CLAT PG course, candidates must have completed their LLB degree or its equivalent with 50% of marks.

  • Age is not a bar for the CLAT Exam. As per the official declaration, if the candidates have obtained at least 45% marks in class 12th, they are eligible to apply for this exam, irrespective of their age.

  • As per the official updates of CLAT Exam Eligibility, the NRI Candidates are eligible to apply for this exam. Note the below points to understand the special criteria of eligibility for international students. 

    • They have to appear for CLAT 2022 only for those NLUs in which this entrance exam is mandatory.
