CLAT Exam 2022: Candidates who are preparing for CLAT 2022-2023 must know all the details about the CLAT exam mentioned below. The  Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level Law entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of NLUs. Candidates who qualify the CLAT exam 2022 will be able to participate in the CLAT admission process. 

The CLAT Exam is administered to provide admission to applicants vin undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law courses offered at 22 NLUs and other private colleges/universities accepting exam scores. 

On August 13, the Consortium of NLUs announced the CLAT 2021 seat allotment results for Round III. Round II seat allocation was announced on August 9, whereas Round I seat allocation was announced on August 1. The candidates who have been assigned seats have three options: Accept your assigned seat, upgrade your seat, or exit the admissions process. The CLAT 2021 counselling procedure will be completed entirely online and will consist of FIVE rounds.

The NLU Consortium will release the CLAT 2022 exam date and exam notification on the official website- consortiumofnlus.ac.in. As per the timeline, CLAT 2022 will be administered in May 2022.

What is CLAT Exam?

CLAT exam also knows as Common Law Admission Test is a nationwide Law entrance exam for candidates seeking admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes at 22 NLUs and other private schools and universities that accept CLAT scores. CLAT-PG results are also used for recruitment by some public organisations, such as ONGC and BHEL. 

CLAT is the most opted law entrance exam by the candidates. Approx, more than 50, 000 applicants take the CLAT Law Entrance Test. The CLAT 2021 exam for UG admissions comprises 150 questions from five subjects, including English Language and Current Affairs, including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques.

CLAT Consortium-Exam Conducting Body

The CLAT exam was administered by NLUs on a rotating basis until 2018. However, starting in 2019, it will be run by a permanent body made up of institutions, known as the Consortium of NLUs. The Consortium (also known as the CLAT Consortium) is headquartered at NLSIU Bangalore and consists of the following members:

  • An Executive Committee
  • The CLAT Convenor of the last year
  • The CLAT Convenor of the following year 
  • Two co-opted Vice-Chancellors of NLU

The Convenor of CLAT 2021 was Professor (Dr) Vijender Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur (MNLU Nagpur). Professor Faizan Mustafa, the Vice-Chancellor of the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), has been elected as the Consortium for CLAT 2021's president.

What is the eligibility for CLAT exam?

Candidates, to apply online for CLAT 2022, need to fulfil the eligibility criteria for this exam at two stages. The CLAT Eligibility 2022 includes details about the age and educational qualification.

CLAT Age Limit

As per the CLAT eligibility criteria, there are no age limit criteria for candidates applying for CLAT 2022. There is no higher age limit for taking the CLAT 2022 exam.

CLAT Educational Qualification

The details about the CLAT Educational qualification is mentioned below. The candidate must have completed 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognised university or board. Candidates who pass the qualifying exam are eligible to take the Common Law Admission Test. However, such candidates will only be considered for admission if they meet all of the other eligibility conditions.

  • The candidate should qualify the class 12th or equivalent exam from a recognised board or university.
  • For General/OBC/Specially-abled person (SAP) the percentage criteria are 45%
  • For SC/ST the percentage criteria are 40%

CLAT Apply Online 2022

CLAT Exam Pattern 2022

CLAT exam 2022 will consist of a total of 5 sections and will be conducted online. Every question contains one mark each and there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. Here is the exam pattern for CLAT 2022 exam. The consortium of NLU has announced that the candidates must also check the latest CLAT exam pattern 2022 as there will be only 150 MCQs to be answered in 120 minutes. There will be no descriptive type questions in CLAT 2022.

After successful completion of the CLAT Exam 2021, CLAT provisional answer key 2021 has been released by the officials on the website. The CLAT provisional answer key is released as per paper codes. If the candidates face an issue or would want to submit any changes for the provisional key, they may do so. CLAT Counselling 2021

The CLAT Result 2021 will be declared after completion of the exam on the official website on 28 July 2021. Post the CLAT Result, the process of CLAT Counselling will begin from 29 July 2021. The complete schedule and process of counselling have been released by the Consortium of NLUs. Check complete details about the CLAT Counselling 2021.

  • At 9:00 a.m., the Counseling Registration procedure will begin. on October 6, 2021, instead of 12:00 p.m. Candidates should take note of the change in scheduling and register for counselling appropriately. In addition, instead of three times as previously announced, the Counseling invitation will be extended to about five times the amount of seats in each category.

  •  

    Only those candidates whose names / admit card numbers appear on the Counselling List are eligible to register for counselling. Candidates will receive an invitation to register for counselling by SMS and email. Candidates who do not complete the registration process for counselling will not be considered for allotment.

What after CLAT Exam 2021?

CLAT Seat Allotment 2021: Candidates who have successfully completed the registration and submitted the counselling fee will be considered for CLAT Seat Allotment 2021. The CLAT 2021 Rank and NLU option submitted by the applicant will be taken into account for the CLAT Seat Allotment list. 

The CLAT Seat Allotment Round 3 List has been announced on the official website. Check the complete CLAT seat allotment list for both 5 - Year Integrated Law Programme and LL.M. Programme. 

Check your name and status in the CLAT Allotment list. You have three options after the list, 

  1. Accept the CLAT seat

  2. Apply for an upgrade

  3. Exit from the CLAT admission process

23 July 2021 (9:00 PM)On the same day as the exam, the tentative answer key and CLAT 2021 question paper were issued.

Obection Window For CLAT Answer Key

Candidates could raise objections and submit corrections. 

Final CLAT 2021 answer key 

27 July 2021The official website published the final CLAT answer key, which included changes to both the question paper and the answer key.

CLAT counselling registration

29 July 2021 to 30 July 2021 (12:00 PM)The CLAT counselling registration window was available on the official website. There will be five allotment rounds in total.

Publication of 1st CLAT seat allotment list & payment of  fee 

01 August 2021 to 05 August 2021 (5:00 PM)The first CLAT merit list/seat allotment list is available on the official website.

Publication of 2nd seat CLAT allotment list & payment of  fee 

09 August 2021 to 10 August 2021 (5:00 PM)The second CLAT merit list was released. 

Publication of 3rd seat allotment list 

13 August 2021 to 14 August 2021The third CLAT merit list 2021 is released. 

Publication of 4th seat allotment list

17 August 2021 to 18 August 2021The fourth CLAT seat allotment list will be released on the official website 
Withdrawal of seats without deduction of fee18 August 2021By August 18, candidates can remove their provisionally assigned seat and receive a full refund of their counselling fee. The counselling cost of Rs 50,000 would be paid after a deduction of Rs 10,000 for seats relinquished after August 18.

  • There is no maximum limit for attempting CLAT exam.

  • There is no sectional cut-off for CLAT, there is just the overall cut-off.

  • Yes, student of any stream can appear for CLAT Exam.

  • Following are the various courses provided by the National Law Universities:

    • B.A. LL.B. (Hons.)
    • B.Com. (LL.B.) (Hons.)
    • B.SC (LL.B.) (Hons.)
    • BB.A. LL.B. (Hons)
  • The duration of this course is 5 years.

  • Each question will carry one mark. 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

  • No, the application for CLAT is online only.

  • You can get previous years CLAT question papers from CLAT authorities by paying Rs. 500 in addition to the application fees.

  • The allotment of colleges is based on a candidates ranking.
