AIBE Syllabus is set by the Bar Council of India (BCI) every year for the candidates who are interested to appear in this exam. BCI conducts the AIBE exam once a year for aspirants wishing to pursue their careers in the Court of Law. There are in total of 19 compulsory chapters, which have different weightage. AIBE Syllabus 2023

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has officially published the AIBE Syllabus on its official website along with the exam notification. Candidates taking this AIBE Exam in the upcoming session should be familiar with the AIBE Syllabus 2023 in order to prepare properly. The AIBE Exam Syllabus includes a total of 19 chapters, which are all compulsory to crack this exam with a good score. Some of the important topics of the AIBE Syllabus are Administrative Law, Evidence Act, Company Law, Cyber Law, CPC, Labour and Industrial Law, from which questions in the certification exam will be asked.

The All-India Bar Examination is held by the BCI to assess candidates’ knowledge of basic law subjects and analytical ability. The AIBE Syllabus includes 19 topics, and all of them are compulsory to answer accurately in the exam. Note the below section to get an overview of the detailed AIBE Exam Syllabus 2023.

  • Constitutional Law: Few important topics to prepare for this section include Judiciary, Acts such as Panchayati Raj, Emergency powers, Human Rights, and Customary Law. The candidates must cover this section of the AIBE Syllabus as they will face 10 Questions from this section.
  • Indian Penal Code (IPC): The official criminal code of India is a code intended to cover all aspects of criminal law. To prepare for this section of the AIBE Syllabus, read different sections of IPC.
  • Criminal Procedure Code: To prepare for this section of the AIBE Syllabus, read up on topics like the history of CPC, the latest news, and other basic concepts
  • Code of Civil Procedure: An important branch of procedural law, the Code of Civil Procedure governs the law that regulates the procedure followed in civil court. To prepare for this subject of the Bar Council Exam Syllabus, it is important for candidates to be aware of all its rules, sections, and other important terms such as Civil Suit, Jurisdiction, Judgement, Decree, Execution, and Appeals.
  • Evidence Act: The Act was originally passed in India in 1872 and contains various important sections that candidates should be well-versed to crack the questions.
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution Act: The judicial and quasi-judicial bodies function as arbitrators on the basis of a given framework to resolve disputes between two parties. The act on alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration, defines such frameworks.
  • Family Law: This section of the AIBE Syllabus covers questions around topics such as Custody, Placement, Maintenance, Paternity, Property Division, and Child Support.
  • Law of Contract: It is one of the oldest mercantile laws in India that came into effect in 1872. Some of the important topics that candidates can prepare for this section include Types of Contracts, Essentials of a Contract, Legal Rules Regarding Consideration, etc.
  • Law of Tort: Few important topics to prepare for this section of the AIBE Syllabus 2023 include the Nature and Definition of Tort, Nuisance, Defamation, Consumer Protection, Remoteness of Damages, and so on.
  • Alternate Dispute Redressal Including Arbitration Act: ADR offers to resolve all types of matters, including civil, commercial, family, etc., where people are not able to start any type of negotiation and reach a settlement. The redressal provides various modes of settlement, including arbitration, conciliation, mediation, negotiation, and Lok Adalat. Candidates need to be aware of all the settlements, including the Arbitration Act.
  • Public Interest Litigation: Commonly known as PIL, it means litigation filed in a court of law for the protection of public interest. Some of the important matters that candidates should be aware of for this section of the AIBE Syllabus includes neglected children, food adulteration, atrocities on women, bonded labour, exploitation of workers, and environmental pollution. Here, candidates should also keep track of some landmark cases and judgments taken by the Indian judiciary.
  • Labour and Industrial Laws: These define the code of conduct between the employee and the employer. Candidates should be aware of areas such as labour policy and legislation, social security of labour, labour and employment statistics, employment services and vocational training, policies related to child labour, and so on.
  • Law-Related Taxation: Here, candidates should be aware of all aspects of tax law, such as different types of taxes, tax reforms, etc., to cover this section of the AIBE Syllabus.
  • Administrative Law governs all administrative actions and establishes the powers and duties of various administrative authorities. It is also a type of public service.
  • Environmental Law: This law covers a variety of acts aimed at reducing pollution and protecting natural flora and fauna. AIBE Syllabus 2023 also includes laws governing the use of natural resources, as well as various agreements.
  • Cyberlaw: The law defines crimes committed in cyberspace, the internet, and the digital world.
  • Taxation Law: It is governed by the Income Tax Act of 1961.
  • The Land Acquisition Act gives the union or government the authority to acquire private land for various types of developments. The compensation for land acquisition is also defined in the Land Acquisition Act.
  • Intellectual Property Law protects the intellectual creation of inventions, designs, trademarks, and artworks. This section of the AIBE Syllabus includes questions about Patents, trademarks, and copyrights that are used to protect and establish these things.
