When it comes to which Law Entrance exam to take: CLAT or SLAT, a long-running debate starts among the students appearing in the examinations. The students want to know about these two exams whether they are alike or different from each other. Both are National Level Law Entrance Examinations.

Common-Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted by The Consortium of National Law Universities to supply courses for UG and PG programs. Twenty-two National Universities take participate in the exam per annum and other several universities offer admission on the idea of CLAT merit. On the opposite hand, Symbiosis Law Aptitude Test (SLAT) is conducted by the Symbiosis University to pick students for its law program and it is considered for law admissions in four law schools that come under SIU. They're :

1. Symbiosis school of law (SLS) Pune

2. SLS Noida

3. SLS Hyderabad

4. SLS Nagpur (new campus)

The time duration allotted for the exam was also reduced from 2 hours half-hour to 105 minutes (75 minutes for MCQ followed by a half-hour for WAT).

2. The Consortium of NLUs announced some notable changes within the exam pattern of CLAT by reducing the number of questions to 150 by increasing the Comprehensive sort of questions in each section. Let us understand, the key features of both the doorway exams below;

  • Logical reasoning:  28-32 questions of 1 mark each

  • Total: 150 questions and marks

SLAT Selection Process 2021

The Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) 2021 was a computer-based exam that's held once a year. In 2021, the exam is going to be held in a home Proctored Mode.

  • First Stage: SLAT Exam 2021

  • Second Stage: WAT (Writing Ability Test) followed by Personal Interaction (PI)

WAT alongside Personal Interaction (PI) carries a 50 percent weightage within the selection process. The PI is conducted separately by colleges. Once the SLAT Results are declared, the PI/ST-PI rounds begin for school allocation.

The SLAT Selection Procedure 2021 includes the SET Law Online exam which is that the first round of the SLAT Law selection process for admissions to BA LLB also as BBA LLB courses. Each participating college conducts the choice process separately.

The second round comprises participating colleges conducting the PI and WAT rounds. The SLAT merit list is announced as per the general performance.
