IP addresses are converted to a hierarchy of domain names. For transporting datagrams across network boundaries, the Internet Protocol (IP) is the Internet protocol suite's network layer communications protocol. Its routing capability makes internetworking possible and, in essence, creates the Internet.

Internet Protocol(IP)

  • It is a logical address that is issued to each and every computer or other device that is a member of a network that uses the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP/IP).
  • The foundational element around which the entire networking architecture is built, whether in a hierarchical structure or in a series of phases, is the IP address.
  • The network node receives an address from the IP address so that it can communicate with other nodes and networks.
  • The IP address is separated into two pieces by numbers:
  • The host part further sources the precise location, while the network part specifies which network this address belongs to.

Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn's original Transmission Control Program featured a connectionless datagram service called IP. It was supplemented by a connection-oriented service that served as the foundation for the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). TCP/IP is therefore a common abbreviation for the Internet protocol suite.

Therefore, a hierarchy of domain names is created from IP addresses.

Summary:

IP addresses are converted to - (1) A hierarchy of domain names (2) Alpha numeric string (3) A binary string (4) A hexadecimal string

A domain name hierarchy is created from IP addresses. Based simply on the IP addresses in the packet headers, IP has the responsibility of delivering packets from the source host to the destination host. IP specifies packet structures that encapsulate the data to be transmitted for this reason. Additionally, it offers addressing strategies for tagging datagrams with source and destination details.
