  • International Day of Peace, sometimes officially called World Peace Day, is a United Nations-recognized holiday and is celebrated on September 21 every year. It is committed to world peace, especially the absence of war and violence, such as war and violence that may be caused by a temporary ceasefire in a combat zone to obtain humanitarian assistance.
  • This day was first celebrated in 1981, the Samadi (Past) Day of the great Guru Sree Narayana Guru. Many countries, political groups, military groups and people celebrate this day.
  • In 2013, the Secretary-General of the United Nations dedicated this day to peace education, which is the most important preventive method for sustainable war reduction.
  • On an opening day, the United Nations Headquarters (New York City) rang the United Nations Peace Bell. The bell is minted from coins donated by children from all continents except Africa.
  • It is a gift from the United Nations Association of Japan as "a reminder of the human cost of war"; the side inscription is "Long live absolute peace in the world".

History:

  • The 1981 United Nations resolution established the International Day of Peace. It was first celebrated in 1982. Let us tell you that it was celebrated on the third Tuesday of September every year until 2002.
  • The General Assembly then decided to permanently commemorate the International Day of Peace on September 21. The main purpose of proclaiming September 21 as the International Day of Peace is to encourage people to work together to maintain peace in all parts of the world.
  • In 2015, the UN member states adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals because people recognized that for global peace, it is necessary to pay attention to the economic and social development of all people around the world and to ensure that their rights are protected. The Sustainable Development Goals cover various issues, including poverty, health, education, climate change, gender equality, water, sanitation, energy, environment and social justice.
  • In fact, Sustainable Development Goal 13 focuses on climate action and requires an immediate call on everyone to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, build resilience and raise awareness of climate change. People need to be encouraged to use renewable energy, clean technology and other climate change factors.
