Indian Premier League (IPL) is a Twenty-20 (T20) cricket league held annually. IPL 2021 (14th-edition) held in India & United Arab Emirates from (9th April – 2nd May 2021 & 19th September – 15th October 2021). Indian Premier League (IPL) in History

• It was founded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007.
• BCCI is the body responsible for the functioning and operation of the league.
• The first Tournament was held in 2008 in India across various parts of the country.
• The tournament is played with 8 teams (franchise) and the top four teams at the end of the tournament will receive a cash prize award, for Winner, Runner, third place and fourth place.

• इसकी स्थापना भारतीय क्रिकेट कंट्रोल बोर्ड (BCCI) ने वर्ष 2007 में की थी।

• पहला टूर्नामेंट 2008 में भारत में देश के विभिन्न हिस्सों में आयोजित किया गया था।
• टूर्नामेंट 8 टीमों (फ्रेंचाइजी) के साथ खेला जाता है और टूर्नामेंट के अंत में शीर्ष चार विजेता टीमों को नकद पुरस्कार दिया जाता है। 

7 things that make IPL 2021 different from IPL 2020

1. Length of innings: Strict guidelines have been issued to teams to finish their bowling innings in 90 minutes. Within this, there will be five minutes of strategic time-out. As a result, an innings will now last 85 minutes.

2. Hour-long Super Over: It has been decided to extend the match for only an hour after the designated time ends. In the last IPL, a match ended in a tie even in the Super Over, which resulted in another Super Over. If the winner is not decided within this hour, both teams taking part will claim one point each.

3. Third umpire to watch a short run: The duty of monitoring the short run will now go to the third umpire.

4. The on-field umpire's soft signal scrapped: If an on-field umpire leaves a decision to the third umpire, he does not have to convey his own decision, known as a soft signal. Earlier, if the third umpire could not take a decision, the on-field umpire's decision was taken as final.

5. Who calls no-balls: As per the updated IPL guidelines, the third umpire can overrule the no-ball decision made by the on-field umpire.

6. Name change: Punjab team has gone for a change of name and a refreshed brand presence. The XI is out from Kings XI Punjab, and it's now Punjab Kings.

7. Captain woes for Delhi Capitals: Rishabh Pant has been named as the skipper of Delhi Capitals.

4. ऑन-फील्ड अंपायर का सॉफ्ट सिग्नल रद्द कर दिया गया: यदि कोई ऑन-फील्ड अंपायर तीसरे अंपायर को निर्णय छोड़ देता है, तो उसे अपने निर्णय से अवगत कराने की आवश्यकता नहीं है, जिसे सॉफ्ट सिग्नल के रूप में जाना जाता है। इससे पहले अगर थर्ड अंपायर फैसला नहीं ले पाता तो मैदानी अंपायर के फैसले को अंतिम माना जाता था।

5. नो-बॉल कौन कहता है: अपडेट किए गए आईपीएल दिशानिर्देशों के अनुसार, थर्ड अंपायर ऑन-फील्ड अंपायर द्वारा किए गए नो-बॉल निर्णय को रद्द कर सकता है।

6. नाम परिवर्तन: पंजाब की टीम नाम बदलने और ब्रांड की एक नई उपस्थिति के लिए जानी गई है। इलेवन किंग्स इलेवन पंजाब से बाहर हो गया है और अब यह पंजाब किंग्स के नाम से जाना जाता है।

7. दिल्ली की राजधानियों के लिए कप्तान का संकट: ऋषभ पंत को दिल्ली की राजधानियों के कप्तान के रूप में नामित किया गया है।

• As per the norm, 50 per cent of the prize money will go to the franchise with the rest being distributed among the players.
