Indian Air Force Group X Y Salary & Benefits

During training, a stipend of Rs. 14,600 will be paid per month. As per the 7th pay commission which is implemented from w.e.f from Jan 2016, the grade pay is abolished and only basic pay is given to the personnel of the Indian Air Force. The Basic Pay is decided by multiplying the 6th pay commission’s consolidated pay (Basic Pay + Grade Pay) by 2.5.

An airman is also entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA) which makes the monthly salary of newly joined Airmen up to Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 45,000.  In addition to this, depending upon the various courses a candidate completes is entitled to other allowances as well such as Transport Allowance, Composite Personal Maintenance Allowance, Leave Ration Allowance, High Altitude Allowance, Field Area/Modified Field Area Allowance, HRA, Children Education Allowance, etc.

Indian Airforce X & Y Group Career Growth

With time, Airmen get promoted to higher ranks during their service in the Air Force. Also, the serving Airmen can apply for selection as an Officer in the Flying Branch within the age group of 19 to 20 years. They can apply for selection to the Officer’s rank in the Ground Duty Branches (other than Medical).

(a) Annual Appraisal Report (AAR /AR/ACR):

In the Indian Air Force promotion is given on the basis of the 'Annual Appraisal report (AAR)' raised every year by the Superior Officer under whom the Airmen work. It is applicable for all ranks.

(b) Promotion Exams:

In addition to AAR, Airmen have to clear departmental exams for their next promotion. The internal exams are there to ensure that Airmen know about the Air Force law, service writing, administration, and military history apart from professional knowledge.

(c) Minimum service:

The following element is the 'minimum tenure of service' in a given rank. This is a necessary requirement for a promotion. 

Each year, A Promotion Board is established in the month of May at Air Force Record Office to consider airmen for promotion.

Note* In order to get promoted an Airmen has to clear the Corporal Promotion Exam and Sergeant Promotion Exam. No test is conducted for promotion to the rank of LAC.

After the rank of Sergeant, other than JWO Promotion Exam Airmen must have a good record of skill, behavior, etc. which are also considered for further promotion.

With the increase in rank, the salary of the Airmen also increases. Here is the complete detail:
