Methods of Soil Conservation other than Terrace Cultivation
The other methods of soil conservation are given below:
- Contour barriers: The barriers that are made with Stones, grass, and soil along the contour is known as contour barrier.
- Intercropping: It refers to the growing of different crops in alternate rows and sowing at different times to protect the soil from rain wash.
- Contour ploughing: The ploughing done parallel to the contours of a hill slope to form a natural barrier for water to flow down the slope is known as contour ploughing.
- Rock dam: The method to slow down the flow of water by piling up the rocks is called a rock dam.
