Delhi lies in Northern India at 28.61°N 77.23°E. On its north, west, and south, Haryana connects the city whereas, on its east, Uttar Pradesh is located. The culture of Delhi has been influenced by its significant history. Delhi is the major commercial city in Northern India. Delhi is the Capital of India.

Location of Delhi

  • Delhi is one of the main urban agglomerations in India. It is located about 100 miles (160 km) south of the Himalayas along the Yamuna River, a tributary of the Ganges (Ganga) River, primarily on its western bank. 
  • The Rashtrapati Bhavan, Parliament House, and the Indian Supreme Court are all located in New Delhi, which serves as the home of all three branches of the Indian government.
  • George V laid the foundation stone of New Delhi during the Delhi Durbar of 1911 and was designed by Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker(British architects). Viceroy and Governor-General Irwin inaugurated the new capital on 13 February 1931.

The Aravali Range in the south gives rise to the Delhi Ridge, which encircles the West, Northeast, and Northwest portions of the city and rises to a height of 1043 feet.
