The answer to the question, in the decimal number system, what is MSD will be the digit, which is having maximum positional weight.

Solution

The detailed solution to the question, in decimal number system, what is MSD provided here.

In every number system, all the digits of the number will have positional weights. So, based on the positional weight, the equivalent value of the number will change. Let us consider a decimal number, which is a real number. That means it has both integer and fractional parts.

Starting from the decimal point towards the left-hand side, the positional weights will be positively increasing powers of 10 for the integer part. Similarly, from the decimal point towards the right-hand side, the positional weights will be negatively increasing powers of 10 for the fractional part.

The leftmost digit will have the maximum positional weight among all the digits of the decimal number. Hence it is called the Most Significant Digit (MSD). Similarly, the rightmost digit will have the minimum positional weight. Hence it is called the Least Significant Digit (LSD). Therefore, Option (A) is the correct answer.
