Due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic a lot of tennis tournaments such as 134th Wimbledon Grand Slam, most of the ATP Master 1000 tournaments such as BNP Paribas Open, Miami Open etc. are suspended or rescheduled.
In this article, we have accumulated many interesting facts about various international tennis tournaments organized by the International Tennis Federation and The Association of Tennis Professionals, winners of these tournaments, their venues and cities etc.
International Tennis Federation:
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) is the governing body of world tennis, wheelchair tennis, and beach tennis.
Grand Slam tournaments
These are the four most important annual tennis tournaments which are-
(i) Australian Open (Mid-January)
(ii) French Open (May and June)
(iii) Wimbledon (June and July)
(iv) US Open (August and September)
These tournaments are played on different types of grounds. These are-

Australian Open - 2020
- Australian Open 2020 tournament, one of the four grand slams, recently concluded on 2nd February 2020 in Melbourne, Australia.
- It is the first grand slam tournament of the year.
- It was first held in 1905 (115 years ago), and Australian Open 2020 was the 108th edition of the tournament.
- Novak Djokovic wins Eighth Australian Open Crown and becomes No.1 in the ATP rankings.
- Sofia Kenin has become the youngest woman to win the Australian Open in 12 years.

French Open - 2020
- This year's French open is expected to begin from 20 September.
- French Open Founded in 1891, this tournament is conducted on Clay court.
- French Open is alternatively known as Roland-Garros.
- The French Open 2019 (118th) concluded on 9th June 2019 at Stade Roland Garros Stadium, in Paris, France.
- Rafal Nadal (33-years) became the first player to win 12 Singles titles at the same Grand Slam and has now won 19 majors overall.
Wimbledon 2020
- The 134th Wimbledon championships 2020 are cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It will be staged from June 28 to July 11, 2021.
- It is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and was first held in 1877 at All England Club in Wimbledon, London.
US Open 2020
- 140th edition US Open is scheduled from 24th August 2020 to 13 September 2020.
- It is Organised by the United States Tennis Association (USTA).
- Held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre in Queens, New York City.
- The First held US Open held in 1881.
- It is the only Grand Slam that uses tiebreakers in every set of a match.
- Bianca Andreescu (Canada) winner of US Open 2019-Women's Singles is the first Canadian tennis player to win a Grand Slam title.
Davis Cup
- Davis Cup by BNP Paribas is the largest annual international team competition in world sport.
- Founded by Dwight Davis in 1900, Davis Cup began as a challenge match between the USA and the British Isles, which was held at the Longwood Cricket Club in Boston.
- It is scheduled to held from 23-29 November 2020 in Madrid, Spain. The games are played on indoor hard courts.
- The Davis Cup by Rakuten Madrid Finals will feature 18 teams:
- 12 qualifiers
- The previous year’s four semi-finalists - Spain, Canada, Great Britain and Russia
- Two wild card nations - France and Serbia
Association of Tennis Professionals
The ATP is the governing body of the men's professional tennis circuits - the ATP Cup, the ATP Tour, the ATP Challenger Tour and the ATP Champions Tour.
ATP Cup 2020
- Team Serbia defeated Team Spain 2-1 in a blockbuster final to win the first ATP Cup at Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney, Australia.
- The 2020 ATP Cup was the first edition of the ATP Cup, an international outdoor hard court men's tennis tournament held by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).
- It was scheduled to held from 3rd January 2020 to 12th January 2020.
ATP Masters 1000:
ATP Masters 1000, which debuted as a series in 1990, features the best men's tennis players at nine top tournaments on the ATP Tour calendar.
