Important Government Schemes for CDS & Defence Exams

From time to time, the government announces different welfare schemes and policies in order to foster the agenda of redistribution and societal wellbeing. These schemes are announced at both central and state level wherein beneficiaries are defined accordingly. In this article, we have tried to give you a list of all-important schemes launched by the present government which are important from exam point of view. This will be useful for CDS, NDA, CAPF, AFCAT and other competitive exams. 

Government of India Schemes & Main Purpose

    • PM-KISAN (Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi) Scheme-

    Ministry of Agriculture

    Main objective:

    The scheme promises to pay Rs 6,000 in 3 instalments every year through direct bank transfer to all poor farmers (small and marginal farmers up to 2 hectares and land up to 2 hectares). This will benefit about 14.5 crore farmers across India.

     

    • Pradhan Mantri Kisan Pension Yojana-

    Ministry of Agriculture

    Main objective:

    To overcome the problems of the agriculture sector, Modi 2.0 Cabinet has approved the proposal to provide a minimum fixed pension of Rs 3,000 per month to small and marginal farmers, which is valued at Rs 10,774.5 crore per year.

    Eligible farmers in the age group of 18-40 years can participate in this voluntary and contributory pension scheme.

    Once the beneficiary of the pension dies, the spouse will be entitled to receive 50% of the original beneficiary's pension amount.

     

    • Mega Pension Scheme-

    Ministry of Finance

    Main objective:

    A mega pension scheme has been approved for traders, shopkeepers and self-employed persons (whose GST turnover is less than Rs 1.5 crore).

    The scheme, after attaining the age of 60, guarantees a minimum assured pension of Rs 3,000 per month for about 3 crore small traders, self-employed persons and shopkeepers.

     

    • Ministry of New Hydropower-

    Ministry of hydropower

    Main objective:

    It aims to provide the pipe-to-water connection to every Indian household by the year 2024. Reports said that the ministry will now be able to prepare a plan to resolve the issue of water management.

     

    • Jan Dhan Yojna-

    Ministry of Finance

    Main objective:

    Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is a national mission on financial inclusion with an integrated approach to bring about comprehensive financial inclusion and provide banking services to all households in the country. The scheme ensures availability of basic savings bank account, need for a loan based, remittance facility, access to financial services like insurance and pension.

     

    • Skill India Mission-

    Ministry of Skill Development & Enterpreneurship

    Main objectives:

    The mission has been developed to converge across regions and states in terms of skills training activities. In addition, the National Skill Development Mission will not only strengthen and coordinate skills initiatives to attain the ' Skilled India ' vision but will also speed up decision-making in all fields to attain scale with velocity and norms.

    Make in India has listed 25 manufacturing, infrastructure and service sectors and comprehensive data are communicated through interactive web portals and professional brochures.

     

    • Swacchh Bharat Abhiyan

    Ministry of Urban Development

    Main objective:

    On 2 October 2014, the Swachh Bharat Mission was launched across the country in length and breadth as a national movement. The campaign aims to achieve the vision of a 'Swachh Bharat' by 2 October 2019.

    Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is the most important cleanliness campaign of the Government of India.

     

    ­

    • Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna-

    Ministry of Rural Development

    Main objectives:

    It is a rural development program that focuses widely on village development, including social development, cultural growth, and distributing advice among individuals on the village community's social development.

     

    • Prime Minister Shram Yogi Man-Dhan (PM-SYM) –

    Ministry of Finance

    Main objective:

    It is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme, under which the customer will get the following benefits:

    (i) - Minimum Sum Assured Pension: Under PM-SYM after attaining 60 years of age to each customer a minimum of Rs. 3000 / - per month will get the minimum pension.

    (ii) - Family Pension: During the receipt of a pension, if the customer dies, the spouse of the beneficiary will be entitled to receive 50% of the pension received by the beneficiary as a family pension. Family pension is applicable only to the spouse.

    (iii) - If a beneficiary has made regular contributions and has died due to any reason (before the age of 40), then the payment of regular contributions to his / her spouse is required to join the scheme and to continue or provisions thereof. Will be entitled to exit from the scheme as per to exit and withdraw.

     

    • Beti Bachao Beti Padhao-

    Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and

    Ministry of Human Resource Development

    Main objective:

    The goal of this scheme is to make girls socially and economically self-reliant through education.

     

    • Hridaya Plan (National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana)-

    Ministry of Urban Development

    Main objective:

    to take care of the World Heritage Sites and to make these sites economically viable.

     

    • PM Mudra Yojana-

    Ministry of Finance

    Main objective:

    Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) is a system initiated on 8 April 2015 by Hon'ble Prime Minister to provide funding of up to 10 lakhs to non-corporate, non-agricultural small / micro-enterprises.

    Creating an inclusive, sustainable and value-based entrepreneurial culture in collaboration with our partner institutions to achieve economic success and financial security.

     

    • Ujala Yojna (Unnat Jeevan by Affordable LEDs and Appliances for All) -

    Ministry of Power

    Main objective:

    Unnat Jeevan by Affordable LEDs and Appliances for All (UJALA) system, State-run Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has allocated more than 30 light-emitting diodes (LED) batteries across the nation.

     

    • Atal Pension Yojana

    Ministry of Finance

    Main objective:

    Atal Pension Yojana is a pension scheme mainly targeted towards the unorganized sector like maids, gardeners, delivery boys, etc. This scheme replaced the previous self-reliance scheme which was not well accepted by the people.

     

    • Prime Minister Jeevan Jyoti Bima Scheme-

    Ministry of Finance

    Main objective:

    Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana is a government-backed life insurance scheme in India. Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana is available for people between 18 and 50 years of age with bank accounts.

     

    • AMRUT Plan (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) –

    Main objectives:

    it is a domestic concern to provide essential services (such as water supply, sewerage, urban transport) in households and construction equipment in towns that will enhance the quality of life for all, particularly the rich and the disadvantaged.

    The objectives of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) are as follows:

    - Ensure that every household has a tap with assured supply of water and a sewerage connection.

    -- Increase the importance of towns ' amenities through the development of greenery and well-kept open areas (e.g. parks)

    - Reduce pollution by building facilities for public transport or non-motorized transportation (such as walking and cycling).

    All these results have been set as Service Level Benchmarks (SLBs) by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) according to citizens, especially women, and indicators and standards.

     

    • Digital India Mission-

    Ministry of Electronics & IT

    Main Objective:

    The Digital India program is a government of India's flagship program with a goal of transforming India into a digitally enabled culture and knowledge economy.

     

    • Gold Monetization Scheme-

    Ministry of Finance

    Main objective:

    Gold Monetization Scheme was launched in 2015 by the Government of India, under this scheme anyone can deposit their gold in any form in GMS account as interest is paid.

     

    • UDAY (Ujwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana) –

    Ministry of Power

    Main objective:

    Ministry of Power, Government of India launched Ujjwal Discom Assurance Yojana (UDAY), which was approved by the Union Cabinet on 5 November 2015.

    The plan is envisaged:

    Financial change.

    Operational improvement.

    Reduction in the cost of electricity generation.

    Development of renewable energy.

    Energy efficiency and conservation.

     

    • Start-up India-

    Ministry of Commerce & Industry

    Main objective:

    Startup India is a major initiative of the Government of India, which aims to catalyze the startup culture and build a strong and inclusive ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship in India.

     

    • Stand up India

    Ministry of Finance & Department of Financial Services

    Main objective:

    At least one SC (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) borrower and at least one woman per bank branch between 10 lakh and 1 crore to set up a stand-up India scheme greenfield venture the bank facilitates loan among the borrower.

     

    • Setu Bharatam Scheme-

    Ministry of Road, Transport and Highway

    Main objective:

    The scheme aims to make all national highways free of railway crossings by 2019.

     

    • Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Scheme-

    Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas

    Main objective:

    Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) on 1 May 2016 to spread 50 million LPG contacts to females from BPL households.

     

    • Namami Gange Scheme-

    Ministry of Water Resources & Ministry of Environment

    Main objective:

    The govt launched an embedded Ganga Conservation Mission called ' Namami Gange ' to avoid Ganga's river emissions and restore the river.

     

    • Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana-

    Ministry of Rural Development

    Main objective:

    It is a project of the Government of India to involve rural youth, especially BPL and SC / ST class people, in gainful employment through skill training programs.

     

    • Ayushman Bharat yojana (PM Jan Arogya Yojana)-

    Ministry of Health & Family Welfare

    Main objective:

    The plan aims to intervene in primary, secondary and tertiary care systems, covering both preventive and promotional health, addressing healthcare holistically. It is an umbrella of two major health initiatives, Health and Welfare Centres and the National Health Protection Scheme (NHPS). 1200 Cr Rs allocated for 1.5 lakh health & wellness centres.
