Important Days in April 2022

April is known for the beautiful weather of spring as it is the start of warmer weather. Initially, April had 29 days but later 30th day was added by Julius Ceaser through his Julian Calendar. It’s a great month to see meteor showers. April Fool’s Day

It is the day that celebrates the custom of playing practical jokes with friends and family. In 1562 Pope Gregory introduced the new calendar, according to which the new year day was shifted on 1st January from 1st April. Some people didn’t know about the date change and continued to celebrate the new year on 1st April, then others played tricks and called them “April Fools”.

On this day in 1936, Odisha became a separate province out of Bihar and Orrisa province. So in memory of the formation of this state, this day is celebrated as Odisha Day.

International Day of Mine Awareness

On 8th December 2005, General Assembly declared that 4th April will be observed as International Day of Mine Awareness and Assistance to raise awareness about the threats from the mine and explosive activities.

National Maritime Day

On this day in 1919 first Indian commercial vessel sailed from Mumbai to London. To celebrate the international trade relations and their effect on our economy 5th April is observed as National Maritime Day since 1964.

This day is observed to bring peace and understanding along with community development by believing in Sport.

This day is celebrated to mark WHO’s founding and to raise the attention of people to the subject of major importance to global health each year.

On this day Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann was born, he is the founder of Homeopathy. This day is observed as World Homeopathy Day to mark the importance of homeopathy in the world of medicine.

This day is observed to create awareness about the maternity facilities and also proper health for lactating women.

This day is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of our first Minister of Law and Justice of Independent India who is Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.

Good Friday

This day is observed to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ at the cavalry. This year it will be celebrated on 15th April 2022.

Easter Festival

Easter Sunday is celebrated on the following Sunday of Good Friday. It is celebrated as on this day Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead occurred on the third day of his crucifixion followed by burial.

This day is observed every year to honor the founder of WFH (World Federation of Haemophilia) Frank Schnavel’s birth anniversary. This day is observed to increase awareness about Haemophilia Disease and other inherited bleeding disorders since 1989.

In 1983 General Assembly of UNESCO approved the existence of World Heritage day on 18th April which was announced by the Internal Council of Monuments & Sites (ICOMOS). This is observed every year to gather attention towards the preservation of Human Heritage.

World Malaria Day

This day is celebrated since 2008 on 25th April which was developed from Africa Malaria Day. It was proposed in the session of the World Health Assembly in 2007 by African Govt.

World Intellectual Property Day

This day is observed to raise the attention towards how patents, copyrights, and trademarks impact our daily life. It is observed since 2000 by World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).

World Day for Safety and Health at Work

This day is observed to gather the attention towards how to improve occupational safety, health and looks for continuing these efforts through several changes.
