Why Question Selection is Important in the CAT Exam?
The CAT exam is considered to be one of the toughest MBA entrance exams. It is unlike the board exams where the candidates get ample amount of time to solve each question. Though in CAT MCQ based questions are asked as per the time limit the candidates get 2 minutes or less to solve each question therefore, it is important to select questions that can be solved easily. As there is negative marking candidates should avoid answering questions which they are not sure about. CAT exam is all about speed and accuracy. It is not important to solve all the questions but to solve questions with utmost accuracy.

Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension
This section includes RC passages of length +500 words which are from various topics such as philosophy, literature, politics, economics and more. RC passages contain both inference based and factual questions. Factual questions are easy to attempt as they are direct questions. The candidates should always try to attempt the passages which are asked from subjects they are familiar with.
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
The most important thing that the candidates have to keep in mind while attempting this section is that they are required to eliminate the options which are incorrect while solving the questions. Candidates having strong calculating skills will be able to solve CAT Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning questions. The candidates should try to learn shortcut tricks and brush up their basic calculation skills in order to solve CAT Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning questions easily.
Quantitative Ability
This section involves a huge number of topics therefore it is quiet impossible for the candidates to study all the topics. Therefore, they should decide the topics they are strong in keeping in mind the weightage of that topic in the CAT exam. Candidates should always try to solve the tougher questions in between the easier questions. They should not leave the tough questions for the end.
