In this article, we will tell you everything you need to know about the IIM Bangalore. So let’s get started.

IIM Bangalore Admission Process for PGP 2022-24 Batch

Understand the IIM B Admission Process in a comprehensive manner. The step by step procedure for the entire admission process is given below.

  • Firstly, all candidates need to fill the CAT Exam form (However, international students must fill the GMAT form and get admissions through GMAT score in place of CAT) in which they need to mark all the programmes of IIM-B in which they are interested
  • Indian candidates then have to appear for the CAT examination (which usually happens on the last Sunday of November every year)
  • There is a specific cut-off score/percentile set by the IIM-B for every programme and the candidates need to score at par or above that in order to get themselves selected for the subsequent rounds.
  • The candidates need to qualify the written ability test and personal interview round in order to get admission in IIM Bangalore.

The final selection of candidates is done in 2 stages

IIM-B Admission Process: Stage 1

The candidates are required to clear the below mentioned minimum overall and sectional cut-off in order to get shortlisted for the next rounds. The below table displays the minimum CAT Cut-Off 2021 required for shortlisting.

Minimum Cut-Off for 1st Shortlisting*

*These are cut-offs used for preparing the first short-list. The scores of those called for interviews were higher.

The candidates who wish to get admission to the IIM Bangalore also need to fulfil certain other criteria. The additional screening criteria for the candidates includes the following:

  • CAT Score (40% weightage)
    • VARC (14% weightage)
    • DILR (16% weightage)
    • QA (10% weightage)
  • Performance in 10th Standard (20% weightage)
  • Performance in 12th Standard (10% weightage)
  • Performance in Graduation (20% weightage)
  • Gender Diversity (2% weightage)
  • Work Experience (8% weightage)

By this method, a Pre-PI score is determined for each of the candidates who wish to get admission to the IIM Bangalore. After this, sufficient number of candidates are called for the Stage 2 of the admission process.

IIM B Admission Process: Stage 2

In this phase of the admission process, the students who have been selected for the PI rounds are additionally required to go through Written Ability Test (WAT) – A 30 minutes essay writing test, topics related to socio-political, economic cum business affairs and topics involving creativity may be included for WAT.

The final shortlisting of the candidates is done on the basis of the following seven factors:

  • Personal Interview (PI) score (30% weightage)
  • Written Ability Test (WAT) score (10% weightage)
  • CAT score (25% weightage)
  • Percentage/CGPA in 10th standard (10% weightage)
  • Percentage/CGPA in 12th standard (5% weightage)
  • Percentage/CGPA in Bachelor’s (10% weightage)
  • Weighted work experience (10% weightage)

The final selection of the candidates for IIM-B is done strictly on the basis of the above 2-phased admission/selection procedure. As far as international students are concerned, they need to appear for the GMAT in place of CAT, rest all the procedure remains mostly similar to that of the Indian Students.
