ICMR JRF 2022: Eligibility Criteria, Educational Qualification and Age Limit!

ICMR-JRF 2022 Eligibility Criteria: Aspirants who want to pursue a PhD or Research programme through the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) support, must take the ICMR’s Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) examination. The council in collaboration with the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh conducts the entrance examination every year to provide an award for the scholars on the basis of merit. The award given to the eligible aspirants will depend on the placements they find in a medical college/hospital/ university / national laboratory/institution of higher learning and research as applicable. The candidates must know the ICMR JRF Eligibility Criteria before applying for the examination.

Candidates who get selected through the ICMR JRF merit will be given grants by the ICMR to finish their whole PhD/research course.  Here we are sharing the detailed ICMR JRF eligibility criteria including the educational qualification, marks and age limit.

ICMR JRF 2022 Eligibility 

Educational Qualification 

The minimum educational qualification for the ICMR JRF is given below. Check all the criteria and make sure you satisfy all the criteria. Mentioned below is the minimum educational qualification needed in the qualifying exam to appear for ICMR JRF.

  • A candidate must possess an M.Sc/ M.A. degree from a recognized university or its equivalent qualification. 
  • The final year student of the M.Sc/ M.A. degree candidates can also apply for the ICMR JRF exam.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year examination are also eligible to apply for the ICMR JRF exam.

Marks

  • Candidates belonging to the General/ EWS/ OBC category need to secure a minimum of 55% marks in their Post-graduation.
  • Candidates belonging to the SC/ ST/ PwD category need to secure a minimum of 50% marks in their Post-graduation.

Age Limit

  • The age limit for ICMR JRF Entrance Exam is 28 years as of September 30, 2021.

  • The relaxation of 3-Years will be given to the candidates belonging to the OBC category.

  • The relaxation of 5-Years will be given to the SC/ ST/ PwD category candidates.

  • ICMR JRF is in collaboration with the PGI Chandigarh conducts the entrance examination every year to award scholarships to top candidates on the basis of merit.

  • The upper age limit for different categories is mentioned below,

    • General Candidate - 28 years
    • OBC - 31 years
    • SC/ ST/ PwD - 33 years
  • No, there is no option available for the offline mode of registration for the examination. Candidates can register through the online mode only. 

  • As per the latest notification released by ICMR, they will release the notification in the last week of June 2021 on ICMR JRF 2021 official website here.
