Today is the last day of the IBPS SO Preliminary Exam 2017. The first shift of today’s IBPS SO Prelims exam has now concluded. Exam Analysis of IBPS SO Prelims 2017 

We will now have a look at the detailed exam review of each section of IBPS SO Prelims 2017 for HR/ Personnel Officer exam.

IBPS SO Prelims Exam Analysis of English Language

This section comprised of 50 questions with a total of 25 marks. Questions from following topics were asked in the English section:

Reading Comprehension

• 2 sets of RC were asked, with total 12-15 Questions
• One of the RC was based on Inflation.
• Synonyms-Antonyms were asked. There was one question where the meaning of the given idiom had to be identified. 

Cloze Test

• 10 Questions were asked from this topic. 
• Questions were based on the normal pattern where 3 options contained the word, the 4th option was all fit and the 5th option was none fit. 

Spotting Errors

• 5 Questions were asked from this topic. 
• A sentence was divided into 5 parts and one part of the sentence, which was correct was fixed. 
• Students had to identify the correct part from the remaining options. 

Para jumbles

• 5 Questions were asked from this topic. 
• The third sentence (C) was fixed and the remaining sentences of the given passage had to be rearranged. 

Fill in the blanks

• 5 Questions were asked from this topic. 
• Double filler questions were asked, where 2 separate sentences were given containing 1 blank each. 
• Students had to select the correct word which would fill both the blanks. 

Phrase Replacement

• 5 Questions were asked from this topic, which were based on the normal pattern. 

IBPS SO Prelims Exam Analysis of Reasoning Ability

50 Questions were asked from this section. Here is the list of the topics asked under the Reasoning section of today’s exam.

Puzzles & Seating Arrangement

• 4 sets of puzzles were asked. 
• One was a linear puzzle, where 8 people were sitting in a row, some facing north and some facing south. 
• One was a circular puzzle with 2 other variables. 
• One was a normal scheduling puzzle, where different books had to be arranged based on their color. 

Inequality

• 3-4 questions were asked from this topic. 
• Questions were direct and quite easily doable. 

Syllogism

• Again, 3-4 questions were asked from this topic. 
• Some of the questions were based on possibility cases but were doable. 

Data Sufficiency

• 5 Questions were asked from this topic. 
• Questions were moderate. 

Logical/ Verbal Reasoning

• 5 Questions were asked from this topic. 
• Questions were mostly based on statement and course of action. 

Alphanumeric Series

• 5 Questions were asked from this topic. 
• Questions were simple and doable.

IBPS SO Prelims Exam Analysis of Quantitative Aptitude

There were 50 questions asked from the Quant section, each carrying 1 mark. Following topics were asked in the quantitative aptitude section:

• 5 Questions were asked from this topic based on missing series. 
• Following questions were asked in this shift:
  1) 11, 13, 111, 257, 427, ?
  2) 38, 51, 25, 64, 12, ?

Simplification/ Approximation

• 5 Questions were asked from this topic. 
• Questions were based on the basic application of BODMAS rules. 

Quadratic Equations

• 5 Questions were asked from this topic. 
• Questions were based on normal factorization and formula application. 

Data Interpretation

• 3-4 sets of Data Interpretation questions were asked in this shift. 
• One tabular, one pie and one line chart were asked. 

Miscellaneous Arithmetic Questions

• Remaining questions of this section were asked from the arithmetic problems. 
• This included topics like Profit & Loss, Partnership, Time & Work, Time Speed & Distance, Simple & Compound Interest, Problem on ages, Mensuration etc.
