In this article, we will discuss the things that you will need to create a study studio, and how it will help you in your preparation.

Why there should be a dedicated area for studying in your home?

As mentioned earlier, when you designate a specific area in your room as the go-to study space, your brain associates that area with learning. Your brain enters the ‘learn mode’ much sooner which makes study time more effective. You will then be able to pay greater attention to the chapter/ topic you are studying and will be more engaged in learning and recollect later.
A study studio minimizes the effort to concentrate on studies be it an online class or offline studies.

What are the things needed for a Study Studio?

You don’t need to worry about the materials needed for the study studio as most likely you already have all the items needed in your home. You just need to choose the right spot and gather the essential supplies as mentioned below:

Make sure that you have sufficient light in your studying area, or it will aggravate eye strain, and ultimately dampen your study session. Do not use harsh lighting such as fluorescent light as this can be bad for your eyes. Rather you can use a desk lamp that focuses on your study table or an overhead light that brighten your study area.
Do not forget to use natural sunlight from the window in the daytime.

Important Tip:

  • Try to study in a short ‘chunk’ of time like 25 to 30 minutes and consider taking short breaks after it
  • Excess clutter in your study space can lead to unnecessary distractions. Try to keep only the essential things that will be needed for your study. Remember, a cluttered study space can lead to a cluttered mind.

You can adorn your study space with motivational posters, signs, parent’s photos, etc. Figure out what kind of motivation works for you, a picture of your parents (who have confidence in you that you will succeed) or a motivational quote (that motivates you every time you look at it) or a picture of yourself dressed in your dream job (supposing your dream job is to get a uniform job, then you should have a picture of yourself dressed in that manner if you have got access to the uniform).
Determine what keeps you motivated, a ‘pull’ or a ‘push’ (carrot and stick policy)

Don’t go Overboard

Do not spend too much time setting up your study space. The main purpose of study space is to help you study more effectively without distractions not to become a distraction itself.
