Strategy to Crack for ESE 2022 Exam Without Coaching

1. Know Syllabus and Pattern

Before you start your preparation, you must be very clear about the exam pattern and the syllabus of the ESE examination.

Engineering Service Examination is conducted in the three-stage

Stage I: Prelims Examination, consist of two Papers (Objective Type)

Paper I is non-technical consisting of 100 questions and 200 marks.

Paper-II is of technical subject consisting of 150 questions and 300 marks.

Only students who qualify Stage I examination are eligible for the mains examination. Stage I is an important stage not only because it is used for shortlisting the candidate for stage II but also because stage I marks is carry forward for the further selection process.

Stage II: Mains Examination, consisting of two Papers (Subjective Type)

Both the Paper are of respective technical subject and of 300 marks each, so a total of 600 marks. And this stage plays a very crucial stage in the selection process because marks can be easily secured if a practice is done properly and you have a command over your subjects.

Stage III: Personality Test, consist of 200 marks

Marks of Stage I, II, III are together used to determine the rank in the Engineering Service Examination.

Go through the previous year's cutoff and get an idea about the cutoff trend and set benchmark marks.

2. Solving Previous Year Papers

For Engineering Service Examination solving the previous years, paper is a very important part of preparation because you will get an idea about the type of question that is being asked in the examination and also it gives command over the subject.

Previous Years Questions of ESE are repetitively being asked in the examination every year, so this is the most important aspect of your preparation.

3. Giving test series

Qualifying the engineering service examination is all about the game of speed and accuracy and once you master these two aspects, the chances of your selection will be very high. So a proper routine ESE mock test series should be attempted by the aspirant who is seriously preparing for the examination.

4. Revision Strategy

In Engineering Service Examination the syllabus is very vast and each subject has an equal weightage, So a proper strategy and revision plan is a very important aspect when you are preparing for ESE. You must be very sure that along with the study of a new subject, the parallel revision of the subject that you had already completed must be going on.

5. Proper Notes of Subject and Short Notes

While going through a subject during self-study, one may refer to different resources books, notes, and lectures but all the valuable information obtained from these resources must be consolidated at a single place i.e your notes. Your notes are very important for you because you can't go through all those resources once again while you are revising. So you have to give lots of importance while you are preparing your notes.

Short notes must be prepared for each subject, especially for the topic which you find difficult and the formula which you generally forget. Short notes will help you to go through the important concepts, formulas that are very important from the exam point of view just before the exam.

6. Study Materials and Resources

Since you are preparing for the examination in which the syllabus is very vast and time is limited so proper selection of study notes plays a very crucial role. Following the standards book is the best method to go through the subject but it is only helpful when you have enough time for preparation. But when you have to prepare the subject for ESE then you must follow study materials in which the content from different books is in a consolidated state.

You can follow some youtube channels for concepts, revision of subjects, and important strategies for ESE. You can follow the free/Paid lecture series available on BYJU's Exam Prep Apps.
