How to Become SI in Delhi Police

Recruitment for the Sub-Inspector post in Delhi Police is done through the SSC CPO exam. Staff Selection Commission Central Police Organization Exam, also known as the SSC CPO Exam, is held to fill the position of Sub Inspector in the Delhi Police along with the several departments of the Central Police Organization such as the SSB, BSF, ITBP etc. To become Delhi Police SI, candidates have to go through the three tiers SSC CPO selection process which comprises Paper 1 Computer Based Test, PET/PST and Paper 2 Computer Based Test. 

Delhi Police SI Eligibility Criteria

In order to become the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police candidates have to fulfil the following eligibility criteria

Nationality:

  • The candidate has to possess Indian Nationality.
  • Apart from Indian nationals, the following candidates can also take interest in the application
    • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan having a certificate in favour of their category issued by the Indian Government
    • A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary will be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India

Age Limit:

One must be at least 20 years old, and the maximum age restriction is 25 years old, in order to qualify for the position of Sub-inspector in Delhi Police through SSC CPO. To find out about age relaxation for various categories, consult SSC CPO Eligibility.

Educational Qualification:

There is no special qualification that one requires to sit for this exam other than holding a graduate degree recognized as such by the Central Government.

Male candidates who are interested in the post of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police must possess a valid Driving License for LMV (Motorcycle and Car) as on the date fixed for Physical Endurance and Standard Tests. Failing the foresaid condition, they would not be allowed to undergo Physical Endurance and Standard Tests.

Physical Standards:

Candidates who want to become Delhi Police SI must meet certain physical requirements, including height and chest size. Once applicants pass the SSC CPO Paper 1 exam, they must show up for the PET/PST test to demonstrate that they are physically healthy enough for the Delhi Police SI positions.

Selection Process to Become a Delhi Police Officer as Sub Inspector

SSC CPO Selection Process consists of the following stages

  • Stage 1: Paper 1 Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  • Stage 2: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) /Physical Standard Test (PST)
  • Stage 3: Paper 2 Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  • Stage 4: Detailed Medical Examination (DME)

There is no interview round involved in the selection process for SSC CPO. The stages can change, though, depending on the posts. Computer-Based Test (CBT) exams are compulsory for all candidates. ExServiceman need not appear for the PET/PST Exam. For the remaining applicants, however, the PET and PST are not only necessary but also qualifying.

SSC released SSC CPO 2022 notification for filling up 4300 vacancies of Delhi Police sub-inspector in Delhi Police along with the several departments of the Central Police Organization such as the SSB, BSF, ITBP etc. Total of 228 vacancies were released for the Sub-Inspector (Exe.) in Delhi Police for Male candidates and 112 vacancies were released for the Sub-Inspector (Exe.) in Delhi Police for female candidates.
