How many Tier in SSC CHSL
The SSC CHSL consists of two tiers that candidates must pass in order to land their ideal position in government organizations. Candidates should review the entire SSC CHSL selection process in order to set goals and better prepare for both tiers of the exam. The SSC CHSL recruitment procedure has two stages, which are as follows:
- Tier 1: Online Computer-Based Test
- Tier 2: Online Computer-Based Test and Skill Test
What is Tier 1 in SSC CHSL?
SSC CHSL Tier 1 is the first stage of selection. Candidates need to clear it in order to move further in the recruitment process. This stage has the highest competition, hence, knowing about it is important. Here are some crucial details about the SSC CHSL Tier 1 selection process:
- SSC CHSL Tier 1 is an objective type examination that is of 200 marks.
- There are 4 subjects included in the Tier 1 exam namely Reasoning, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness.
- There are 100 questions asked in the examination of 2 marks each where there are 0.5 marks for every wrong answer.
- The time duration of the examination is 60 mins.
- Questions will be given in both English and Hindi except for the English Section Questions.

What is Tier 2 in SSC CHSL?
Staff Selection Commission has changed the SSC CHSL exam pattern last year. As per the new exam pattern, Tier 2 is now objective in nature and also includes the skill test within it. Earlier, it used to be a descriptive paper. SSC CHSL Tier is different sessions that are further divided into different sections and modules. Knowing these modules in detail is essential to prepare them thoroughly for the exam.
- In session 1, there will be 2 modules in both section 1 and section 2. There is only one module in section 3.
- The total number of questions is 135 which are 3 marks each.
- There is also a negative marking of 1 mark for every wrong answer.
- The time duration for each section is 1 hour.
- Session 2 includes Section 3 i.e. Skill test/typing test for the specific posts. The duration of it is 15 minutes.

Is there is Tier 3 in SSC CHSL?
No, there will not be Tier 3 in the CHSL examination. The commission has scraped off Tier 3 from SSC CHSL exam cycle last year. Earlier, Tier 3 was SSC CHSL Typing Speed Test which was a qualifying exam. Now, this section has been merged with Tier 2 as a result of which the SSC CHSL exam only has two tiers now.
