How Many Rivers are there in Punjab?

There are a total of five Rivers in Punjab namely Satluj, Chenab, Jhelum, Beas, and Ravi. This is where the name Punjab comes from. The words Punj (five) and Aab (water) combine to form Punjab, which roughly translates to the land of five rivers. Total Rivers in Punjab

Punjab is also known as the “Land of Five Rivers” because five major rivers flow through it. These rivers are among the most significant geographical features of this region. Because of its high soil fertility and abundant water, the state is primarily agrarian.

All these rivers find their origin in the Indus river, they are its tributaries. All these five rivers converge to form the Panjnad river. Jhelum and Ravi join Chenab, Beas joins Sutlej, and then Sutlej and Chenab join to form Panjnad. Panjnad which ultimately converges into the Indus river.

The Indus finally flows into the Arabian Sea in Pakistan. A large part of Pakistan’s population depends upon the water of the Indus Valley River System. These rivers together form a significant part of the Indus Valley River System.
