Then, compare all the sections of both GATE & GRE, such as syllabus, difficulty level, exam pattern and more, to conclude which is preferable for a candidate.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or GATE is a computer-based admission exam held once a year to enter engineering programs at top Indian Institutes of Technology such as IITs and other NITs. It is also a gateway to numerous PSUs in India. Whereas Graduate Record Examinations, or GRE, is one of the most comprehensive inspection examinations globally, it is accepted worldwide by several universities/colleges for graduate entrance. In addition, thousands of graduate programs take GRE scores worldwide.

FAQs

  • There is no such thing as which exam is better between the two GRE Vs GATE, two whole exams with a different syllabus, different study approaches, and different exam patterns. So there is no point in comparing them.

  • GATE is the best for those who want to study at the IIT, and GRE is best for the students who want to pursue their Master's abroad. For M. Tech in India, GATE is best, and for masters in foreign, GRE is best.

  • Indian students manage to be slightly different from the rest when preparing for exams like GRE. Indians find GRE Quant very easy because the maximum who give this exam are engineers.

  • Yes, the GATE exam is tough as compared to the GRE exam as GRE is less competitive. Many more candidates appear for the GATE exam than for the GRE but the qualification rate in 2015 was a mere 15.05%, which is why it's easy to see how the GRE is much less competitive

  • No, GATE is an admission test for Indian Universities in master's programs whereas GRE is for master's programs in foreign universities
