Important Highlights of GATE ME 2022 Morning Shift
The first session of the GATE Mechanical Engineering 2021 Paper was conducted in the forenoon between (9.00 am- 12.00 pm). Candidates had to carry their Admit Cards to enter the examination hall. There were 5 MSQs (multiple select), 25 MCQs (multiple select questions), and 35 NAT (Numerical Answer Type) questions in the first shift of the GATE mechanical 2022 exam.
- The overall difficulty level of the first shift of GATE mechanical paper was Moderate to Tough.
- There was a total of 5 M.S.Qs (Multiple select) questions in the first shift of paper. All these questions were theoretical-type questions.
- Manufacturing Engineering & Heat Transfer had the highest weightage in the mechanical first shift of the GATE 2022 paper.
- Questions asked from the General Aptitude portion were Easy in the first shift.
- The level of questions from Engineering Mathematics was Moderate which carried 15 marks in the paper.

6. Power Plant - Memory based (2 marks)
Question - Steady-state, 500 kg/s steam enters turbine with h = 3500 kJ/kg and s = 6.5 KJ/kgK, expands reversibly to condenser pressure. Heat loss occurs reversibly @500 k. Exit h = 2500 kJ/kg = 6.3 KJ/kgK. Find work output of turbine?
