GATE Counselling 2021: Candidates qualifying in the GATE 2021 Exam will have to apply to COAP for IIT M.Tech admission and in CCMT for NIT M.Tech admission. Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) and Centralised Counselling for M. Tech / M.Des (CCMT) conducts the GATE 2021 counseling process. COAP and CMT will require separate enrolments by the candidates. 

Candidates should know that COAP is organized for admitting students into IITs while CMT is organized for admitted students into NITs and IIITs. Candidates have to apply based on individual IIT institutes separately. Candidates opting for state and private universities also need to have a good GATE score as it is considered a vital parameter at the time of admission.

GATE Counselling 2021 Important Points

  • Centralized counseling of GATE 2021 will not be conducted by IIT Bombay.
  • COAP and CCMT counseling will be done for admissions in the participating institutes like IITs and NITs, IIITs respectively.
  • Many institutes also conduct a written tests or interview for shortlisting candidates.

GATE 2021 Counselling - M.Tech Admissions into IITs

  • MTech Admissions in IITs will require the candidate to fill a separate application form.
  •  Candidates have to register for COAP Counselling for admissions in IITs.
  • Candidates have to register on the individual institute’s website as well.
  •  Candidates can go through the list of offers from the institutes where they applied through COAP on the portal. 

GATE Counselling 2021 - M.Tech Admissions into NITs, IIITs, and GFITs

  • Candidates have to register themselves for CMT Counselling for MTech admissions in NITs, IIITs, and GFITs.
  • A total of three regular rounds of coin selling will be conducted.
  • Steps of registration & payment of fee, choice locking, and document verification will be a part of the counselling process.
  • GATE scores/ranks, availability of seats, and choices locked by the candidates will determine the final seat allotment in the GATE Counselling 2021 process.

  • A separate counselling process will be conducted by state and private universities.
  • Some universities may conduct a separate written test and interview for the admission process.

GATE CCMT Counselling 2021

Following are the important features of the GATE CCMT Counselling 2021: 

  • Reporting to the participating centers during the seat allotment process (after any round).
  • Then pay the Seat Confirmation fee and another fee along with other necessary formalities.
  • For the document verification process, All National Spot Round Registered can be visited by the candidates.

GATE CCMT Eligibility

The following requirements need to be fulfilled by the candidate:

  • A valid GATE score
  • A minimum of 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks (For General and OBC). 
  • For SC/ST/PwD category candidates, the eligibility is set at a minimum of 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks.

GATE CCMT 2021 Admission Process

  • Register and pay on the official website.
  • CCMT registration fee is INR 2200 for OC/OB and INR 1700 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
  • Fill in the colleges and courses of your choice.
  • Reshuffle the sequence if you want before making the final submit.
  • Candidates will be offered seats based on their GATE Scores.
  • Seat allotment fees will be required to be made by the candidates who will be allotted a seat.
  • Seat Acceptance Fee of INR 20000 through online mode should be made by the candidates.
  • Report to the centers and present your documents.
  • Candidates can visit the centres in any of the counseling rounds and make a seat confirmation fee of ₹10,000/-
  • The balance fee for allotted institutes has to be paid to the respective allotted Institute at the time of physical reporting (after the 3rd round of allotment and internal sliding) at the allotted institute.

1. Who will be conducting the GATE Counselling 2021?

There is no common counseling process for GATE 2021; students have to apply separately for admissions in IITs and NITs/IIITs.
