GATE Exam 2022 Not Postponed! Check IIT Kharagpur's Viral Notice

GATE 2022 exam is not postponed regardless of the ongoing pandemic situation in the country, which means the news circulating on the internet stands false. GATE 2022 is scheduled by IIT Kharagpur on February 5, 6, 12 & 13 in two sessions in about 201 examination centres across the country.

A notification that reads, "The health and safety of our examination participants are of utmost priority. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, all dates cited on this website may alter. In rare circumstances, the GATE 2022 examination may be postponed or cancelled due to situations beyond control" went viral on various social media sites among students.

The candidates who were protesting for the postponement of the GATE 2022 exam posted a notice on various social media sites confirming the news of the GATE 2022 postponement. The notification hints at a possible postponement of the GATE 2022 exam. The notification, however, is old and has been on the website since GATE exam dates has been announced by IIT Kharagpur.

IIT Kharagpur's Clarification about GATE Exam Postponement Notice

Students may please note that there is no official communication from IIT Kharagpur regarding the postponement and its director has confirmed about commencing GATE exams on time in PIB. IIT Kharagpur has further not communicated anything related to the exam. GATE 2022 Admit Card has been released and students are advised to carry it to the exam hall as, without it, they will not be allowed to give the exam.

IIT Kharagpur told in its statement that about 10 lakh students attempt GATE every year, creating it one of the biggest exams for PG studies. The GATE exams for all disciplines, which include Mechanical EngineeringElectronics and Communication EngineeringComputer ScienceElectrical Engineering and Civil Engineering, will be generally held in multiple sessions on account of a large number of applicants.

Check Pre-Exam Instructions for GATE 2022 Exam

  • The rules say that candidates will be allowed to log in 20 minutes before the GATE exam starts for reading the essential instructions. However, they will not be allowed to start answering till the specified time.
  • Scribble pads will be delivered during the exam for rough work before beginning. However, you will have to return the scribble pad after completing and exiting the exam hall.
  • All candidates must write their names and registration numbers on the scribble pad before using it.

GATE 2022 Exam Day Guidelines

  • It is always recommendable to deliver a quick reading of the question paper so you can calculate how to unravel it. Use the "View All Questions Button" for quick reading. It allows you to choose and plan the areas you require to attempt.
  • Begin the exam by clicking on the area you wish to attempt first. Toppers mostly suggest starting with the General Aptitude and Engineering Maths subject section.
  • Most students find the 1 mark questions easier to answer than the 2 mark questions, which need analysis and speculation. If this bears for you, start with the 1 mark first.
  • Answer those questions that you are confident about to make a score. It will build your spirit before you proceed to the difficult ones.
  • Do not forget to take your admit card along with your original photo identity issued by the government with you.
  • Since there is negative marking, avoid responding to questions you don't know the answers to, so you don't lose marks on a chance.
