For a given wire wound core, an increase in current through the coil ______.

  1. Reverse the flux lines
  2. Decrease the flux density
  3. Increase the flux density
  4. Cause no change in flux density

Answer: C. Increase the flux density

For a given wire wound core, an increase in current through the coil increase the flux density.

Solution

We know that magnetic flux density(B) is directly proportional to the magnetic field intensity (H)

B ∝ H

From ampere’s law

H=I/2πr⇒H ∝ I

B ∝ H ∝ I

So, if the current through the coil increases then flux density also increases.

Hence, for a given wire wound core, an increase in current through the coil increase the flux density.

Option C is the correct answer.
