Rational numbers can be expressed as the ratio of two integers, where the denominator should not be equal to zero.

LCM of 5 and 2 = 5 x 2 = 10

Converting the given numbers with the same denominator, we get

-2/5 x 4/4 = -8/20

1/2 x 10/10 = 10/20

Now, -8/20 and 10/20 have the same denominator.
