To find: HCF and LCM of 404 and 96
The HCF and LCM of the given numbers can be determined by using the Prime factorization method. Prime factorization is a method of finding the expression of a number as a product of prime numbers.
On doing the prime factorization of 404, we will get 2 × 2 × 101 as its prime factors whereas the prime factors of 96 are 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3.
Now, we all know that HCF stands for Highest Common Factor i.e. product of the numbers of factors that are shared by all of the given numbers. So, the HCF of 404 and 96 = 2 × 2 = 4 and LCM of 404 and 96 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 101 = 9696.

HCF and LCM of 404 and 96
Now, we are going to prove that HCF × LCM = Product of the two given numbers for which the numbers are 404 and 96.
We found that HCF and LCM of 404 and 96 are 4 and 9696 respectively. Now, we will put these values in the above mentioned formula and check if LHS = RHS.
HCF × LCM = Product of the two given numbers
4 × 9696 = 404 × 96
38784 = 38784
Here, we can see that the Left Hand Side (LHS) = Right Hand Side (RHS). Hence, we can say that HCF × LCM = Product of the two given numbers.
Summary:
Find HCF and LCM of 404 and 96 and verify that HCF × LCM = Product of the two given numbers.
By using the Prime factorization method, it is found that HCF and LCM of 404 and 96 are 4 and 9696 respectively. After that, put the obtained values in the formula HCF × LCM = Product of the two given numbers to verify that formula is true.
