Anticolonialism as a historical phenomenon manifested itself in numerous ways all throughout the world. Although a lot of anticolonial work from this time period makes reference to earlier events, including the 1857 Indian Mutiny, this period is widely understood to be the 1920s to 1947, the year when India and Pakistan attained independence.

People started realising their togetherness through their fight against colonialism.
The feeling of oppression brought together several diverse groups was a common link caused by colonialism.
For each class and group, colonialism had various repercussions.
Each class and group had a unique understanding of freedom, and their experiences varied.
In India, the Congress under Mahatma Gandhi made an effort to unite many groups inside a single movement.
But there was a struggle before there was togetherness.
