ESIC has conducted ESIC SSO Mains Examination 2018. The candidates who qualified ESIC SSO Prelims appeared for the much sought after the exam of the Banking Sector. Now we are sharing a thorough analysis of the ESIC SSO Mains Examination 2018.

Highlights of the exam

1. The sequence of Section- Reasoning/Intelligence, General Awareness, English, Quantitative Aptitude

2. Level of Exam - The level of the exam was Easy to Moderate. 

3. Reasoning/ Intelligence - The level of the Reasoning section was Easy. Questions were easy & based on an old pattern. 

4. Quantitative Aptitude - The level of the Quant section was also Easy.  

5. English Language - The level of the English section was Easy to Moderate.  

6. General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness - Current Affairs were mainly from May to July. 

7. Difficult Section - General Awareness as some of the questions were asked from the Insurance and from Polity (constitution).

The questions in this section were of the easy level with a few of them a bit time-consuming. There were questions from following topics -

Details of the topic asked -

1. Data Interpretation 

  • Double Pie Chart - The name of Air Flights were given - Air India, Spice Jet. Total Flights were 3600. 
  • Tabular D.I. - A, B, C, D - The ratio of no. of boys & girls were given. 
  • Level - Easy 

2. Number Series - Missing number series was asked

  • Level - Easy
  • The questions were easy and doable.

3. Quadratic Equation

  • Level - Easy
  • The questions were easy and doable.

4. Approximation

  • Level - Easy
  • The questions were easy and doable.

5. Miscellaneous Questions were asked from topics like Mixture & Allegation, Ages, Time & Work, 2-D Mensuration etc.

6. Number series questions were easy to do and less time-consuming. They were based on basic series patterns.

7. Quadratic Equation question was also easy and factors were easily findable.

Details of the topic asked -

1. Input-Output: It was based on number series. It was based on addition and subtraction of 2.

2. Puzzles:

  • Month Based Puzzle: 3 months and 2 dates were given. There were 6 persons. They teach different subjects.
  • Linear Arrangement: No. of people were facing north. They like different colors.
  • Circular Arrangement: There were 8 people facing center.
  • Arrangement: 6 - 7 people work in 3 departments and they watch different movies.

4. Coding Decoding & Inequality was based on normal old pattern and Easy to do.

5. Direction Sense  & Blood Relation Question was not tricky and easy to do.

3. English Language

The overall level of English Section was Moderate to Difficult. The questions were doable but they were new to the candidates. Following topics were asked -

1. RC1 topic: No regulation of Work place mental care in India

2. RC2 topic: Innovations in Robot

3. Sentence Correction: Here some words were bold. You have to figure out the incorrect part from unbold ones.

4. Sentence Connector: It was based on the old pattern.

4. General/ Economy/ Financial/Insurance Awareness

In this section, the major chunk of the questions was from Insurance Awareness and Current Affairs of last 4-5 Months. The level of the section was of Moderate Level. 

  • There were around 4-5 questions from Polity.
  • Around 10-12 questions were asked from Insurance Awareness.
  • Many questions were from GK Tornado.

6. Who is the current Chief statistician of India? - Pravin Srivastava
