67th BPSC Prelims Exam date 2022 has now been made public by the Bihar Public Service Commission for applicants to the 67th BPSC Prelims 2022 Exam that is scheduled for September 30, according to the notice for the exam.

What is Equipercentile Equating Technique in BPSC

Equi-percentile is a statistical procedure used to transform test results into interchangeable results on test forms. Equating is done to make fair and relevant comparisons for the merit list and candidate ranking possible. The percentile ranks for candidates with the same percentile ranks are determined using this procedure.

For example, if a candidate's percentile rank is 70, there are 70 other candidates who scored lower than the applicant. Additionally, the candidate is one of only 30 candidates who had a higher score.

Equipercentile Calculation Method

BPSC first time will use the equipercentile method for prelim exam results. To calculate the percentile, the total number of students who have appeared for the exam in a shift is subtracted by the rank of the candidate in that shft and divided by the total number of students subtracted by 1 multiplied by 100. The marks obtained by candidates are normalized using the following formula:

Percentile Rank= {Total No. of students in shift - Rank of the candidate in that shift/Total no. of students - 1}X 100

After normalization, the total marks are rounded off to the nearest two decimal places. The sectional and overall cut-off marks are determined using average scores that have been normalized.
