TISSNET vs TISSMAT

Before knowing the difference between these two exams, the candidates must note the exam details of both TISSNET and TISSMAT in brief.

What is TISSNET?

TISS National Entrance Test TISSNET is an institute-level exam conducted nationally by TISS (Tata Institute of Social Sciences) every year for the candidates who aspire to get admission into the MA Programmes at TISS. TISS offers 50 Master’s Degree programs from its Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati, and Hyderabad campuses for the 2022-24 batch. The candidates can apply for a maximum of three programs across any of the two campuses indicating the order of preference. The merit list will be prepared based on the preferences given by the candidate in the application form.

The TISSNET is held online, and the paper comprises three sections: English Proficiency, Mathematics and Logical Reasoning, and General Awareness. There are a total of 100 questions, and for each correct answer, the candidate is awarded one mark. There is no negative marking in the TISSNET. What is TISSMAT?

TISS Management Aptitude Test TISSMAT is an institute-level entrance exam conducted for candidates who want to apply for MA (HRM&LR) and/or MA (ODCL) programs. Candidates who appear for TISSNET are only eligible for TISSMAT. It is a computer-based exam with a duration of 45 minutes. The paper has MCQs type questions from three sections: Comprehension, Business Awareness, and Data Interpretation. There are around 35 questions; for each correct question, one mark is rewarded, and 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong. There is also a descriptive test of about 15 marks. Let’s go through the exam pattern of TISSMAT mentioned below:

  • Only for MA in Human Resource Management & Labour Relations (HRM &LR) and/or MA in Organisation Development, Change and Leadership (ODCL) courses.

Difference Between TISSNET and TISSMAT

The main difference between TISSNET and TISSMAT is that the first one evaluates the social aptitude of the aspirants, whereas the second one has been introduced to test the business aptitude of the aspirants. TISSNET vs TISSMAT Selection Criteria and Weightage

In order to appear for TISSNET, the candidates have to first qualify for the TISSNET. All the shortlisted candidates can appear for the TISSMAT, or pre-interview test, along with the Personal Interview round for the final selection.

  • All MBA aspirants have to appear for TISSNET irrespective of the program they have applied for. On the other hand, the TISSMAT is mandatory only for those candidates who have applied for MA in Human Resource Management (MA-HRM) & Labour Relations (MA-LR) and MA in Organisation Development, Change, and Leadership (ODCL) programs.
  • The main focus of TISSNET is to check students’ general awareness, and logical and mathematical skills, while TISSMAT evaluates the business aptitude skills of the student and the ability to interpret data related to marketing
  • The final selection in the TISS campuses will be based on the following criteria and weightage:
    • TISSNET: 40%
    • TISSMAT/TISSPAT: 30%
    • Online Personal Interview (OPI): 30%

TISSNET Eligibility

  • Applying candidate must be a graduate or have an equivalent degree from a recognized university
  • Candidates who are in the final year of their graduation are also eligible to apply
  • Candidates who are pursuing a four-year bachelor’s degree (like B.Tech) must have cleared all subjects up to the sixth semester
  • There is no UPPER/LOWER AGE LIMIT for appearing in TISSNET
  • Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of working experience
