Difference Between AFSB and SSB Interview

AFSB and SSB Interview: As we all know that both AFSB and SSB are interviews for the Defence forces. AFSB stands for the Air Force selection board and recommends candidates only for the Indian Air Force and SSB stand for Service Selection Board and the candidates are particularly selected for the Indian Army and Indian Navy. Here we are explaining the difference between AFSB and SSB interviews that an aspirant must know.

There are many differences in both the interviews, let’s have a look at them one by one:

AFSB Vs SSB Interview – Know the Differences Here! 

1. Education Qualification: 

SSB: Candidates who have passed their graduation are eligible to go through various direct entries like NCC, JAG or can take the Combined Defence Services examination. Also, Candidates who have appeared or are appearing in the class 12th examination, are eligible to appear for the National Defence Academy. 

AFSB: Candidate should be a graduate, he/she should have spent a minimum of three years in college and should have scored at least 60% in their graduation.

2. Age Limit: 

SSB: Minimum age is 16.5 yrs (NDA) and maximum age is 24yrs (CDS)

AFSB: This falls in the bracket of 20-26 yrs

3. Boards: 

SSB: Allahabad, Bhopal, Bangalore, Vizag, Coimbatore, Kapurthala

AFSB: Gandhinagar, Mysore, Varanasi, Dehradun

4. Reporting:

SSB: Mostly the reporting time is in the afternoon, at 2:30 PM.

AFSB: Mostly for AFSB the reporting time is in the morning at 6 AM.

5. Screening Process: 

SSB: The screening starts on the next day of reporting.

AFSB: The screening starts the same day after the documents are verified.

6. Individual Obstacles in GTO:

Mostly the Tasks remain the same, but with minor changes.

7. Conference day:

SSB: The last day is reserved for Conference

AFSB: This takes place on the last day of the GTO if time permits, otherwise take place on Next day.

8. What Happens after the Recommendation:

SSB: Candidates are sent for the medicals the next day of the Recommendation.

AFSB: Herein candidates will go for CPSS if opted for flying and then will proceed for Medicals.

9. Various exams for both entries:

SSB: NDA, UES, CDS, TES, SSC-tech, TGC, NCC, JAG  

AFSB: CDSE, AFCAT, NDA
