India is located in the Northern Hemisphere. The Tropic of Cancer divides the country into two equal parts. It spans the Asian continent between latitudes 8°4’N and 37°6’N and 68°7’E and 97°25’E. With a land area of 3,287,263 square kilometers, India is the seventh largest country in the world. It has the world’s second-largest population. India is bounded on the south by the Indian Ocean and on the north by the Himalayas. Seven countries share a border with India.
