Defence-related Current Affairs for CDS & NDA Exams

  • Surya Kiran XIII is a joint military exercise that was conducted between India and Nepal from 30th May to 12th June 2018. 
  • The exercise was conducted at Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, where the troops of both the countries trained for 14 days for counter-terrorist operations. 
  • Around 300 soldiers of the Nepal and Indian Army participated in this exercise. 
  • Major General Neeraj Verma (Chief of Staff for HQ UB area) of the Indian Army and Major General Rajendra Karki (Divison Commander of Mid Western Division) of the Nepal army were present during the final phase of the exercise. 

Note: The Surya Kiran exercises are conducted twice a year (every 6 months), alternatively in Nepal and India between the troops of the two countries. 
The Surya Kiran XII exercise was conducted at Nepal Army Battle School, Saljhandi in Nepal.
