  • Meaning:
    a. the continuance of an effect after its cause is removed
    b. continued existence or occurrence
    c. the fact that someone or something persists
    d. the quality of being persistent, or the act of persisting
  • Synonyms: perseverance, tenacity, determination, endurance
  • Antonyms: apathy, emotional instability
  • Usage in a sentence: Most financial analysts have been surprised by the persistence of the recession.

3. Word: Maritime (समुद्रतटीय)

  • Pronunciation: mar-i-tahym/मैरीटाइम
  • Part of Speech: Adjective 
  • Meaning:
    a. associated with the sea or waterways to the sea in relation to navigation, shipping, etc.
    b. of or relating to the sea or waterways to the sea
    c. bordering on the sea
    d. living near or in the sea
    e. characteristic of a sailor; nautical
  • Usage in a sentenceMaritime commerce accounts for trillions of dollars in annual U.S. economic activity.

4. Word: Marvel (अचम्भा)

  • Pronunciationmahr-vuh l/ मार्वल
  • Part of Speech: Verb, Noun
  • Meaning: 
    a. be filled with wonder or astonishment. (Verb)
    b. a wonderful or astonishing person or thing. (Noun)
  • Synonyms: wonder, miracle, prodigy, curiosity
  • Antonyms: indifference, disrespect, neglect
  • Usage in a sentence: One can only marvel at the way the building has been constructed.

5.  Word: Conundrum (समस्या)

  • Pronunciation: kuh-nuhn-druh m/ कनन्ड्रम
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning: 
    a. a confusing and difficult problem or question.
    b. a question asked for amusement, typically one with a pun in its answer; a riddle.
  • Synonyms: enigma, mystery, puzzle
  • Antonyms: clarification, obviousness
  • Usage in a Sentence: Time will certainly provide the solution to that conundrum.

6. Word: Jettison (फेंक देना)

  • Pronunciationjet-uh-suh n/ जेटिसन
  • Part of Speech: Verb, Noun
  • Meaning
    a. throw or drop (something) from an aircraft or ship. (Verb)
    b. abandon or discard (someone or something that is no longer wanted). (Verb)
    c. the action of jettisoning something. (Noun)
  • Synonyms: discard, dump, reject, eliminate, abandon
  • Antonyms: adopt, salvage, preserve
  • Usage in a sentence: We should jettison these old computers and get new ones.

 7. WordScupper (असफल करना)

  • Pronunciation: skuhp-er/ स्कपर
  • Part of Speech: Noun, Verb
  • Meaning
    a. a hole in a ship's side to carry water overboard from the deck [Noun]
    b. prevent from working or succeeding; thwart [Verb]
  • Synonyms: expose, endanger
  • Antonyms: envelope, guard, shelter, shield
  • Usage in a Sentence: Subconsciously, they scupper their own efforts to gain a little comfort.

8. Word: Reiterate (दोहराना)

  • Pronunciation: ree-it-uh-reyt/ रीइटरैट
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning: say something again or a number of times, typically for emphasis or clarity.
  • Synonyms: repeat, restate, renew
  • Antonyms: conceal, repudiate, contradict
  • Usage in a sentence: We would like to reiterate that a confirmation copy will be coming by mail soon.

9.  Word: Omission (अकरण)

  • Pronunciation: oh-mish-uh n/ ओमिशन
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning:
    a. someone or something that has been left out or excluded.
    b. the action of excluding or leaving out someone or something.
    c. a failure to fulfil a moral or legal obligation.
  • Synonyms: neglect, failure, oversight, disregard, elimination
  • Antonyms: addition, inclusion, increase
  • Usage in a sentence: The disk contains a selection of deleted scenes, and a couple of the omissions greatly add to the intelligibility of the movie's plot

10. Word: Proactive (अग्रसक्रिय)

  • Pronunciation: proh-ak-tiv/ प्रोऐक्टिव
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning: (of a person or action) creating or controlling a situation rather than just responding to it after it has happened.
  • Synonyms: active, dynamic, farsighted, anticipatory, enterprising
  • Antonyms: passive, idle, sluggish, weak
  • Usage in a sentence: The city is taking a proactive approach to fighting crime by hiring more police officers.
