  • Usage in a sentence: Voices of dissent began to rise against the bombing.

3. Word: Gauntlet (हस्त-त्राण)

  • Pronunciation: gawnt-let/गॉन्ट्लट
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning: 
    a. go through an intimidating or dangerous crowd or experience in order to reach a goal
    b. an armored glove
    c. the part of a glove covering the wrist
    d. a severe trial
  • Synonyms: glove', mitten, suit of armor
  • Usage in a sentence: She had to run the gauntlet of male autograph seekers.

4.  Word: Trample (कूचलना)

  • Pronunciation: tram-puhl/ट्रैम्पल
  • Part of Speech: Verb/Noun
  • Meaning:
    a. to tread or step heavily and noisily; stamp.(Verb)
    b. to domineer harshly over; crush: (Verb)
    c. the act of trampling (Noun)
  • Synonyms: crush, tread, squash
  • Antonyms: assist, heal
  • Usage in a sentence: Somebody trampled all over my flowerbeds! 

5. Word: Onerous (कष्टदायक)

  • Pronunciation: on-er-uhs/ओनरस
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning: 
    a. burdensome, oppressive, or troublesome; causing hardship:
    b. having or involving obligations or responsibilities, especially legal ones, that outweigh the advantages:
  • Synonyms: arduous, burdensome, difficult
  • Antonyms: easy, light, effortless
  • Usage in a sentence: Easing the pain of a patient is an onerous task for any doctor. 

6. Word: Impinge (अतिक्रमण करना)

  • Pronunciation: im-pinj/ इम्पिन्ज
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning
    a. have an effect, especially a negative one.
    b. advance over an area belonging to someone or something else; encroach.
  • Synonyms: encroach, infringe, impact, impact, intrude
  • Antonyms: dodge, avoid
  • Usage in a Sentence: You are free to pursue all the things that make you happy as long as you do not impinge on the freedoms of others during your pursuit.

7. Word: Behemoth (विशालकाय)

  • Pronunciation: bih-hee-muh th/ बिहीमथ
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning:
    a. something enormous, especially a large and powerful organization.
    b. a huge or monstrous creature.
  • Synonyms: giant, monster, colossus
  • Antonyms: dwarf
  • Usage in a sentence: Shoppers are now more loyal to their local shops than to faceless behemoths.

8. Word: Coercion (ज़बरदस्ती)

  • Pronunciation: co-ar-shun/कोअर्शन
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning –  the action or practice of persuading someone to do something by using force or threats
  • Synonyms- force, compulsion, constraint, duress, oppression, enforcement
  • Antonyms-  encouragement, urging, prompting, persuasion
  • Usage in a sentence - If no coercion was used then it can not be said slavery.

9. Word: Sovereignty (सत्ता)

  • Pronunciation: sov-rin-tee/साव्रिन्टी
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning:
    a. supreme power or authority
    b. the authority of a state to govern itself or another state
    c. a self-governing state.
  • Synonyms: freedom, democracy
  • Antonyms: retention, belief
  • Usage in a Sentence: The people embrace their independence and sovereignty.

10. Word: Stall (अवरुद्ध)

  • Pronunciation: stawl/स्टॉल्
  • Part of Speech: Noun, Verb
  • Meaning
    a. to cause (a motor or the vehicle it powers) to stop, especially by supplying it with a poor fuel mixture or overloading it (Verb)
    b. to lose control of or crash (an airplane) from so doing (Verb)
    c. to bring to a standstill; check the progress or motion of, especially unintentionally (Verb)
    d. to cause to stick fast, as in mire or snow (Verb)
    e. a booth or stand in which merchandise is displayed for sale (Verb)
    f. a stable or shed for horses or cattle (Noun)
    g. a rectangular space marked off or reserved for parking a car (Noun)
  • Synonyms: standstill, stopped, dead end, stalemate
  • Antonyms: ongoing, afoot
  • Usage in a sentence: A car may stall due to the driver braking too
